Ah come on
The plot In a nut shell is a couple that have their dead child cloned, but things go wrong ones the child hits the age of the dead child. This film is bad, not very well thought out, the acting is a bit ropey and it's clichéd all over. Instead of exploring the interesting human dilemma of wanting your child back after it's death or the emotional consequence of being a clone, this film goes for the dull shock tactic of scary monsters from the after life! The writer should have explored the issue rather than use it as an excuse to make an inexcusably dull film.
I'm at odds with what Robert De Niro has done with his career, strange that one can go from involvement in some of the most important films of our times to a career strewn with dumbed-down acting, the phrase "burnt out" keeps coming to mind, although I think he could find the edge again... please enthrall us once again Bobby with that intense grasp of character acting you once had.
On the film once again, well what can you say apart from what a shame, they stuck to a formula and got the predicted result.
Apocalypse Now (1979)
This film puts Marlon Brando as one of the greatest actors to ever be committed to film. His presence is great and powerful, not many actors have come close to what he achieves. If you don't get what I'm talking about then perhaps you do not empathise with his character thus missing the subtleties and power he brings to the role.
