Old times still are good
I'm not a Moody Blues fan or ever was, apart from highly regarding the wonderful "Nights in White Satin". So I decided to buy this DVD as it was on offer in a Department Store nearby to get to know them a bit better. And... good thing I did! It's a good concert with good performances in a wonderful venue, where in other times I got to see Eric Clapton live in a memorable night. Although I didn't recognize hardly any of the songs, it caught my attention how well they performed them and how correct they were interacting with the audience. The audience, by the way, were most of the time constrained to their seats, very English indeed! The orchestra was superb, but no information on the DVD cover on who they are or even that they were to appear. Pity the DVD has no extras, like discography, biographies, etc.
A masterpiece at last available
Forty years on and still one of the best super groups ever. At last the opportunity to see them "live", as then (1969) I was only 6 years old, and actually didn't get to know them till many years later, on CD. Four geniuses put together in the formidable natural stage of Hyde Park on a beautiful sunny day. Four forces of nature giving it all to the numerous and unusually 60s respectful audience. Highlight: Presence of the Lord: mesmerizing! and the quality of the recording is unbelievable. And the extras on the DVD are very appreciated: 3 promo videos, and selected discographies of each of the band members. A real must in anybody's DVDotheque.
Rust Never Sleeps (1979)
At last I've been able to see this concert, which I've had on vinyl since I was young!!!! hahahaha. One of my favourite live rock albums ever, and on video its really exciting. Neil Young, some 30 years later, is still one of the best performers on stage. In fact, last year (2008) he played in Rock In Rio in Madrid and I saw the concert on TV: it was simply mind-blowing!!!! In this video, though, something has got on my nerves: the monks with torch lights plundering around the stage, and making so much noise as they go on changing the stage!!!! Was that meant to be like that??? Its really annoying. As it is the Stage announcements after My My Hey Hey (Out of the blue). The highlight, for me, is Like a Hurricane: rock'n'roll will never die indeed!!!
Excellent value, good old memories
I just bought this DVD for a very reasonable price (6)as I have the original first album, first on cassette (I worn it out!) and then on CD. The first Bad Co. album I understand is the best, and on this DVD the songs from it are my favorite, especially ROCK STEADY, BAD COMPANY, but also the rest: the overplayed on FM stations, but still brilliant) CAN'T GET ENOUGH, SEAGULL (what a beautiful ballad!), READY FOR LOVE (indeed I am). The rest, some of which I didn't know, are well performed, and catchy too. At the beginning, I thought "Oh no, just two of the original members are here: Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke), missing both Boz Burrell and Mick Ralph, but as the concert goes on, they are not really missed as the other musicians are really great. And what a nice surprise to see and listen to Slash and especially Neil Schon (not well known in Spain, unfortunately)!!! Great track too. If you are a Bad Company fan, this is a must; and if you're not, this is an excellent way to begin loving them, till you die!!!
