Poker Queens (2020)
There is so much in it you'll want to watch more than once!
The Poker Queens Documentary is an amazing look into a world unknown to many of us. However, after watching it you walk away understanding much more than the game of poker.
The writer takes you seamlessly through the many social nuances of women competing in the dominantly male game of poker. It draws attention to the details and challenges female poker pros encounter in the professional world of poker.
What I found so interesting (but not surprising) is how much skill, discipline and intelligence women seem to have over their male counterparts. The film highlights the natural intuitive nature of women as a force to be reckoned with.
This movie is stylistically flawless and draws you in from the start.
The direction, the player interviews, and the surprise elements of the film are (well, see it for yourself). It's a film you will want to watch more than once.
An absolute must see....you will not be disappointed in any way.
To male poker players; you should definitely see it...you could learn a lot about your female opponents while looking at beautiful women..a win win.
Stanley Stanton (2019)
Dark Themed Story with Heart
Finding an Indie movie that is original and captivating is rare. Stanley Stanton is one of those films. The music and narration are both excellent, and this film delivers a haunting message most will not soon forget. Thought provoking and unnerving, the actor and director did a fantastic job.
Slaughter Daughter (2012)
Cult Favorite with Gorgeous Lead: Leesa Rowland
There is something to be said for classic, scary cult films. It's an acquired taste and and can become an addiction. And, behind every memorable horror film is a fantastic leading lady. In this case, it is the beautiful actress Leesa Rowland who lights up the scream screen.
Loyal fans who love these types of movies will truly enjoy Slaughter Daughter.
Terror (2014)
Loved the short film "Terror"
This film sadly reminds me of the current situation in the actors country (Nigeria) where villages have been destroyed and children have been abducted by terrorists such as the one Rizi plays in this film. It made me think of the #bringbackourgirls missing school girls and it was nice to see a short film bringing attention to this human rights issue abroad. He portrays his character, Balumbe the terrorist rebel leader in a very scary and intimidating manner which is a testament to his versatility as an actor because I saw him in a comedic role in the short film "dubious dating advice" and he realistically portrayed a really laid back nice guy.
Prayers from the Priest (2014)
Rizi Timane Shines in "Prayers from the Priest"
I watched Rizi in the movie "Prayers from the Priest" and was very intrigued by his portrayal of an African witch doctor/voodoo priest. He was speaking an African language that I would later learn was the Hausa language from Northern Nigeria and I appreciated the authenticity that his language skills added to the character. This talented African actor kind of reminds me of another very talented African actor called Djimon Hounsou from such movies as "Blood Diamond" and "Amistad" and I have no doubt that Rizi is set for great success as well because there are roles on both TV and Film for someone with Rizi's talent and skills. I hope Hollywood is taking notice. I for one look forward to seeing him some more.
Macabre Theatre (2002)
Ivonna Cadaver Basks in The Horror Host Spotlight
Wow, just when we thought this genre was over, Ivonna Cadaver is signed for a 5th year on her nationally syndicated show: Macabre Theatre (http://macabretheatre.com).
This year she is spotlighting indie horror which is a break from the traditional Roger Corman flicks. It's anyone's game now. The show is in High Definition too, which is even more fun to watch.
The ghoulishly produced new films include such blood-worthy titles as "The Creepy Doll," produced by P.J. Woodside and Steve Hudgins of Big Biting Pig Productions and other indie flicks from around the globe. And fans of Ivonna will feel no pain, only desire, when they see Ivonna host segments and talk horror-mania in her trademark fishnets and plunging neckline outfits.
Ivonna Cadaver is well known on the local Los Angeles scene. She starred in Knott's Scary Farm's Halloween Haunt for two years, participated in K-Earth Radio Halloween "spooktaculars," and filmed a Macabre Theatre Special outside Grauman's Chinese Theater where her guests included, among others, Nathan Fillion, now the star of ABC-TV's "Castle."
The show is directed by Sandra Mohr.
