CSI: Vegas: Koala (2022)

Unusually bad
27 March 2024
This was an unusually poorly written episode with serious flaws. What idiot passed a story line where the crime lab can ballistic check a shot gun shell? The info is on the shell anyway. Really very little in this episode makes sense. What have they chosen to do to the Lindsay character? What the heck is that all about? It's poorly written and poorly acted. This show is better than this episode. Some people need to lose their jobs over this mess because it devalues the entire series. It's a suck fest that should never have aired! Send the Lindsay character off to work in Aspen or somewhere off the show. Don't ever have the child welfare Kandy on the show again either. I've seen canines that had more acting abilities. This review does not contain spoilers because this episode was already spoiled from the get go!

Good idea that's poorly executed.
5 March 2024
I have watched the first four episodes. The show has a promising enough premise but so far it's disappointing. The acting seems pretty bad so far but that's typical early in a new series. I do believe the main reoccurring cast is capable. The writing is lousy and very predictable so the actors haven't been given much to work with. The same can be said for production and direction. They too are hampered by clunky scripts featuring stereotypical characters and formulaic writing. As the actors acclimate to their rolls they might improve enough to add some cover but the show runners would do well to bring in more talented hardworking writers who might actually do some research here and there about the subject matter they are writing. I doubt this series makes it to season 2 regardless.

More lousy writing and directing
27 February 2024
These last two seasons have really fallen off badly. The story lines are hokey and implausible. The acting is just bad from much of the cast. Some of the guest stars have good resumes and have proven they can act but here they are just flat, unmotivated, and completely unconvincing. CSI has been an A plus rated show for most of its 15 season run. They've had a few B's here and there but the last two seasons have been chocked full of C and D efforts. The few original cast members that remain have had their rolls minimized significantly and that too hurts the shows quality. It's evident that it was definitely time to say goodbye to this one. I have watched the first season of the replacement CSI Vegas and it's back up to standards so maybe the writers, cast, and crew of the original just got too tired.

Awful episode
22 February 2024
Everyone involved with this episode should be ashamed of themselves particularly Writer Deanna Shumaker. This is just an awful effort for what has been a terrific long running show. Ted Danson's DB character continues to be a weak point but that's the fault of the script writers not the actors. All of the actors slept walked through this one though. Who can blame them with such a ridiculous story and such awful production and direction. Nothing about this one is in anyway reasonable or realistic at all. After 14 seasons of this is the crap they are going to shovel at us I'd rather they just end the show. The king running cast members deserve much much better!

Poor acting and directing.
15 February 2024
Season 14 has been relatively bad compared to previous seasons. This is the worst acting I've seen on the series. There are some very few experienced actors here giving terrible performances in this one so it might be due to direction and production. I. Particularly Shue and Thompson might as well be reciting their lines off a note pad. The dialogue is clumsy and clunky. The basic outline subject matter was a bit unrealistic to begin with but there still should have been plenty to work here. What they came up with didn't work well enough. Ted Danson and Elizabeth Shue's character's continue to be the weakest of the entire CSI run. That's tough for me to say because I like them. Shue is even worse in this one than usual. She's just not suited to the character she's asked to play here. The other main principles are fine. They haven't been given much. George Eads was missing in this one and boy was he missed and the others had diminished responsibilities in this one. Why? Who knows. Maybe the show runners are attempting to tank the show. All and all a disappointing effort across the board but this show is judged against its own stellar previous works. Even the worst CSI crime scene episode is still a C and better than at least half the other shows on the air.

Stunningly accurate!
19 May 2023
I first viewed this film through the eyes of a college student back in the early 90's I thought it was just a funny Eddie Murphy slapstick comedy. I Re-watched the movie in 2023 and with the added context of leaked documents showing the actual innate crookedness of our entire federal government I have much added appreciation for the film, it's production department, the actors involved and Mr. Murphy personally. Wow the once comedic goings on in the film are small potatoes compared to the mega grifts today's congress is running on the American people. They do an excellent job of laying out just how easily the congressional grift system operates and sucks in all of them eventually! It should be required viewing for Highschool seniors!

Very interesting viewing

This was a very good show. Unfortunately we can't trust Netflix. When shows are as good as this one we will either get a new mini season every two or three years or they will cancel it altogether like they have this one. They would rather inundate us with cheap to produce teen junk programming instead.

Teenage girls are evil?

Teenage girls are evil? Yes that's pretty much the gist of this one. Netflix has canceled a lot of good shows so that they can focus on producing more mindless teen dreck like this one.

Fun entertainment
18 July 2022
The show is always fun but it has its ups and downs. Sometimes it's a 7 and sometimes a 10 but always fun. The lead actress in particular is always amazing. Her comedic and acting talent make the show work. She basically plays a different character every single episode. Her talents might be wasted in anything else.

Interesting premise just hitting its pace when
11 July 2022
Canceled? Netflix screws it's paying customers once again! It's difficult to get involved with Netflix produced shows because you will ultimately receive one of two unsatisfactory results. 1. The show is average enough that it draws enough viewers to run for a few seasons and we will get a few 7-10 episode runs released every two to three years between them until we are given a rushed ending. OR 2. The show hooks you in but is cancelled without warning so that the viewer is left invested and hanging. Either way Netflix you suck!

Terrific episode. Best of the season and maybe the best of the series to date. There is a lot of important revelations but this is Max's episode and Sadie Sink truly shines here.

The Batman (2022)
4/10
Some good but mostly a mess
18 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Pattinson does a good enough job as Batman. I like the dark detective and more menacing take for the Batman character. Kravitz made a convincing cat woman. Wright is god as always. Colin Farrell's take on The Penguin was interesting. Turturro was excellent. I even got used to Dano's riddler / Bane mashup. Unfortunately most of their efforts are wasted. It's literally too dark for one. You can barely see what's going on. While Pattinson's Batman is passable his Bruce Wayne is just terrible. In fact in this film Bruce Wayne is only distinguishable from his Bat Man character by the pointy ears on his mask. If you close your eyes it is impossible to tell which is on screen. I don't know if that was an intentional production choice but it didn't work for me. The film is long and plodding with overwhelming soundtrack and overly dramatic scenes that have little to no relevance. How many times did they do the slow Batman walking steps with everyone watching? One reason that the film is three hours long is that at least a half hour is devoted to Batman slow walking into scenes. Andy Serkis's Alfred is completely wasted as also is Sarsgaard. Most of all the story is just so boring that I didn't even pause the film when I had to go to the bathroom. I really doubt I'd even bother to watch another addition with this team.

I really really want this to be great.
23 May 2022
I love Michael Connelly and his Bosch series is one of my favorite shows ever. I do think there is a good enough story line her to really be something special too. Manuel Garcia Rulfo is a solid actor and five episodes in does appear to be growing into the part. Neve Campbell is good. Becki Newton and Jazz Raycole are solid too and have potential. Everyone else is pretty bad though. I mean really amateur small town dinner theater bad. Maybe Angus Sampson and grow into a credible performer with enough experience but he and most of the other supporting actors are just awkward bad. That said I do hope this series gets a second season to smooth out the rough edges around what could potentially be a good show. Not up to Bosch standards but still good enough to hold your attention.

Great idea. Well cast. Unfortunately miserably executed. I'm truly disappointed in this first episode but I'll try and give it one or two more to see if it improves.

Better storyline
22 April 2022
Tonight's episode had a better storyline than what we've been shoved so far this season. Unfortunately the acting performance from the entire cast was half arse. It sounded like they were reading lines doing a walk through.

Hard to get through this one.
12 April 2022
This once fun show has had its ups and downs over the years but tonight's had to be an all time low. Written and directed with all the depth of a ninth grade school project. The actors didn't have anything original to work with and phoned it in as well.

Seth Rogan plays Seth Rogan
28 March 2022
Once again Seth Rogan stars as himself. He is a no talent blob of a want to be stoner. Creech and Chong pulled off the stoner comedy. Rogan is just pitiful example of liberal privilege at its worst. He can't act and he's rarely funny beyond a few pratfalls.

Even worse than the film it's based upon!
28 March 2022
Why do people continue to drag that talentless slob Seth Rogan into films? He's made a Carter of dragging down pretty good actors and film makers. Never waste your time watching anything he's associated with in more than a bit part. He's funny for about three minutes of any given production.

Nice cast but doubt it makes it.
28 March 2022
So apparently someone decided to mash the Shining together with Amityville horror and make it funny? Despite the A level cast this show just isn't good. It doesn't work. There isn't a likable character in the show.

Unfortunately this isn't a well written show. I've given it four episodes to improve but it hasn't. It's too bad because the premise is good and they have some talent involved.

Warning: Spoilers
Richard Roxbury is as fun to watch as always and Kate Beckinsale makes for elite level eye candy. Special effects are pretty good but fail to make up for lacking storyline. My recommendation is to save this one for a rainy day. I do like Roxbury in the villain roll though. He's good enough that you sort of pull for him.
