Daddy Cool (2009)
Slow but steady!
This Mammootty flick is a family drama filled with style, colors and laughs. But it fails miserably in the story department. The Script lacks finesse and strength. If you r to tell the story in one line ,that's all that happens in the movie.Debut director Aashiq Abu fails to make an impression with his cool shots and family drama.Mammootty as the lethargic Crime branch officer ,is only a commendable performance. His acting skills are not put to use in this one.The Kid's performance was cool and he's a good actor for his age.He was the centre point of the movie and he didn't disappoint. As a duo,the megastar and the mega-kid sizzled. Finally, part of it was boring part of it was fun, this movie certainly deserves a family visit.
Ghajini (2008)
Forget Everything ! Remember Nothing!
Memento by Christopher Nolan is a classic. You can never remake it.Ghajini is just a spoof.or Aamir's effort to do diverse roles led him to the next stop-Action..One thing i have to highlight here is the Climax which is way better than the Tamil version.Asin wasn't a smart choice, good job though, but Priyanka Chopra would have been better.A.R's score is pleasant but lacking.Ravi.K.Chandran handled the switching Gritty,Romantic,Cool tones of the scenes with grace and deserves a special mention for the lighting which plays along with the mood.Stunts and the way they were shot looked as if they were inspired by the Thai Tony Jaa flick.Screenplay by Murugadass is a loose dangling in the air affair.Absurd situations, like the one in which the millionaire owner of AirVoice company coming down personally to decide where they should have the Hoardings of their Ad was total crap,he going around the city followed by 5 or 6 other BMW's,like he's the President of Utopia was bull crap. And Aamir's rolled up sleeve CEO looked more like a gangster rather than A CEO.While watching the movie it was i who had to remember the fact that Aamir's character was suffering from Anterograde Amnesia except for the waking up seen and the climax.Otherwise he was having a smooth run tracking his girlfriend's murderer unlike Guy Pearce!
Below is the best moment of this movie!
The Policeman enters the room where the body was lying. He looks around as other Forensic experts is looking for clues. He looks everywhere, not anywhere near the body.Suddenly tube light flashes and he decides to look under the cupboard in corner of the room.He takes a flashlight lies down and has a look.A Dead cock Roach,Hmmm...may be the killer would have killed him too to avoid witnesses, wait there is something else...it's a bird...it's a plane...it's a Bus Ticket!Eureka!!!! Does it occur to anybody of you that it could have been lying there for days, weeks or months?
I mean COME ON MAN, show some respect for the COMMON SENSE!
Sagar Alias Jackie: Reloaded (2009)
Disappointing!!!
Big B was a pathbreaking movie considering the visual style and action. It was a fine work but not a great movie. But SAJ disappoints in all the fields.I admit it has style, but unlike Big B the movie doesn't have any magic moments.U have Mohanlal walking in slow motion the entire time. The Action scenes were not thrilling, the plot was so stupefying,it's just the old wine in new bottle.Mohanlal's performance was intense.Cinematography was good ,Amal Neerad himself did it.S.N.Swamy is outdated. It was a wrong decision to hand him the scripting duties which i think may have made Amal Neerad confined. The Script had utterly failed the Visual Style of SAJ with bad plot uncool one liners, and idiotic humour.Forgettable Songs,Background score was heavy, gave me headaches. The Chemistry between Mohanlal and Bhavana was ridiculous & unneeded.Altogether SAJ is a disappointing movie, doesn't deliver at all,go in if you like Mohanlal and some cool shots!
