This film is an outstanding documentary about Frank Mason and his painting style and defense against cleaning of old masterworks. I support his fight 100%. Let the paintings breathe on their own. Some are meant to age over time, and not be disgraced with cartoon-like embellishment under the guise "cleaning" them up. This film should be included in art history classes across the world! It's a pity Frank Mason is one of the only masterful artists left to defend the masters and their artwork. I think this film enlightens us to the fact of the (literal) atrocities that museums and galleries alike are doing to these wonderful works of art unbeknownst to the public, unbeknownst to the appreciative art lovers of our time, and the time to come. We cannot stop time! What will happen in 2 hundred years from now? Are we again going to be subjected to further "cleaning" of the masterworks until they are unrecognizable tragedies of themselves? This is an important film in my opinion.

Documentary chronicling Antoni Gaudi's Sangrada Familia masterwork.

An in depth study of Gaudi's masterpiece, Sangrada Familia, in Barcelona. Interviews with all those involved with the construction, planning and evolution of Gaudi's architectural wonder are here in this documentary. If you are interested in architecture, this is a must see. Gaudi's unique style of design breathes life into the Spanish community. A style of de constructionism, pushing the bounds of geometry. Adding, or more like subtracting shapes within surfaces. Parallel lines curved around columns are characteristics of Gaudi's mastery. The results are astounding when viewed up close and personal. Mark Burry's work as the leading architect in the continuing construction of Sangrada Famila enlightens us to Gaudi's world and unlocks the secrets of Gaudi's genius. If you enjoy the world of architecture, a fan of Gaudi or not, you will enjoy this presentation.

Really enjoyed this Swedish film. It is well-written, in that it has a good moral compass and achieves the message very thoroughly with fine acting. Zandra Andersson was superb IMHO, playing an actress within the film is no easy task and dealing with issues of physical appearance must have been challenging. Bravo! The supporting cast is more than adequate, especially the performance of Anastasios Soulis and Moa Silén. The American title is "Starring Maja" (Swedish title "Princessa"). I thoroughly enjoyed this film because it also doesn't leave you hanging, it comes to a full, definite conclusion, therefore well-written. Sweden keeps coming out with these great films every year! Keep it up! Jätte bra!

Solitary Man hit home for me in a few ways. First of all, the stellar cast was in fact...stellar. Michael Douglas is in top form with a role he's familiar with on screen. Michael's character grows on us as a wise, go-get tum, never-mind-the-bollix attitude that we love to see in ourselves. Deep down however, it's apparent he's reaching for his youth. He befriends a young character (Jesse Eisenberg) advising him about college, love and zest for life, but when things begin to fall apart in his own life, he's forced himself to finally make a decision to face the challenges of his own not so youthful life. Only Michael Douglas could pull this off IMHO. He carries his character in such a way that we still care about him, even after his rather devious actions. The film really could be considered a vehicle for Michael, being in almost every scene, yet there stands Danny DeVito, Susan Sarandon, Marie Louise Parker, Jesse Eisenberg, etc to support this fine film.
