Nick started working in Pittsburgh, Pa. as a background actor several years ago thanks to Mosser Casting in Pittsburgh. His first stand-in role came on the Production On The Inside (standing in for Actor Nick Stahl), and doing double duty as Prison Guard 2. This became a passion for him, and his love of working in film and television grew. He then received his next stand-in role for Actor Kevin Corrigan in The Next Three Days. In 2012, Mr. Balzer received his first call to Photo Double in the Scott Cooper (Director of the Academy Award winning Crazy Heart) feature Out Of The Furnace for none other than Mr. Woody Harrelson (whom he also became the stand-in for) thanks to Nancy Mosser Casting. This position began to teach him how to act and portray the character he was doubling for. Later that year, Mr. Balzer applied to stand-in for Mr. Mark Ruffalo with Billy Dowd Casting (whom he had worked with on the production Unstoppable with Director Tony Scott). Although he was not hired for that role, he humbly accepted work as a background actor. Through his work he was hired to stand-in for a new actor, Francis J. Murphy III (Wayne Kendall), and was noticed by Assistant Director Scott Robertson. Mr. Balzer was then honored when he walked in to work as an extra, and was told be would be standing in and photo doubling Mr. Steve Carell (backup for his regular Kevin Maier). From working with Christian Bale, Russell Crowe, Willem Dafoe, Olivia Wilde, Michelle Monaghan, Directors Bennett Miller, Tony Scott, Paul Haggis, and many more, Mr. Balzer has an undying respect for this industry. Through hard work, dedication to the Pittsburgh Film Industry, Mr. Balzer is frequently hired due to his professional nature and knowledge of film work etiquette. He still remains humbly grounded and works as a background actor to remind him of where he started. This page is dedicated to Mr. Tony Scott, whom I had the privilege and honor to shake hands, talk to, and be directed by on the production Unstoppable. Thank you for giving me my first big screen 15 seconds rooting with my co-workers for Will and Frank to save the train. You are highly appreciated and will be missed. To my Pittsburgh co-workers, all the crew, and Nancy and Katie at Mosser Casting, Billy Dowd, I love you. Here's to many years of working together in The Steel City!!! Cheers!!!
