Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
Awful, childish movie! People are weird, not the movie.
I really can't enjoy a cliché like this one and I don't understand how people can get behind an awful, childish movie like Guardians of the Galaxy.
Cheap jokes and laughs, seen that done that scenes, bad guys and visual effects. I didn't care much for any of the characters in the movie and the powerful connection between the members of the team had to be the most important part of it. Nobody was funny, there weren't any cool jokes and creative and visually stunning scenes. It was just another sci-fi rip-off from the major productions in the genre.
Huge disappointment. Don't watch it. 8.5??? People are weird, not the movie..
Absolutely stunning and realistic movie! 10 out of 10!
It's not dull, it's not overdone, it's not simple.. this movie is filled with emotions and realistic situations. Believe it or not, Tyler Perry has made a masterpiece here. I can't seem to understand how are people scoring this movie so low!? Based on what? Besides Kim Kardashian's bad acting in 2 scenes, there are no weak points in this project.
4 out of 10 stars!?? People need to watch this movie and judge better. It has some amazing young talent, it has dramatic scenes, it has comedy, it has dark moments, it has a twist, it has a point, it has a tragic and realistic ending... it has life!
Temptation will seduce even the most sceptic people and will open people's eyes. Well done Mr. Perry!!
Safe House (2012)
Certainly very underrated! Great action thriller! (Spoilers)
A great Hollywood entry for Swedish director Daniel Espinosa, after his big hit Snabba cash.
I must say I didn't expect much of this movie, but boy was I surprised. It was a gripping and dynamic action thriller, that wasn't a swing and a miss like many of the Hollywood action titles, that came out in 2012.
Denzel was perfect like always and his part fitted him great, but the actor who really surprised me in this one was Ryan Reynolds. He absolutely gave everything in this movie.. acting wise and action wise. His character had so many transformations throughout the film, that they made my head spin more than those brilliant action sequences made by Espinosa and his crew.
Another cool part were Liam Cunningham, Robert Patrick and Joel Kinnaman's(the next Robocop) cameos, which were placed perfectly and did helped with the slick transitions in the story. Gleeson was cool as always.
Maybe, the only thing that I disliked in the movie was Vera Farmiga's part. Yeah, I must admit her death was important to the story as a whole, but as an individual character, her role was very unimportant and I think that they had to give the part to an less famous actress. That's my opinion.
I must say, this movie is very underrated and I do recommend it to every fan of the action thriller spy genre, because I guarantee that it won't disappoint your expectations. Safe House is an overlooked gem and it is far more interesting and compelling than most of the action attractions from 2012.
One of the year's best... (Spoilers)
A very poor year in the movie industry overall, but this one shines through! A very good drama film, which fails to draw major attention, because of it's theme. Just like "The Wrestler", this movie has a specific idea behind it and a delicate theme (Mixed Martial Arts). Movie critics and people who like meaningful films maybe have overlooked Warrior, exactly because of it's subject, which isn't very popular in this business.
Good sports movies have always drawn huge attention and have won numberous awards, but the so called "dirty sports" like Pro wrestling and MMA have received mixed feelings, when taken as a theme for a film... better yet a serious film! Nobody takes in consideration the fact, that in this line of work there are many significant and complex human beings that would become brilliant subjects for a movie character, like for example Tommy Conlon (Tom Hardy) a suffering soul that wonders alone, wanting someone to reach out and pull him away from the darkness. Tommy lives his life in the past, a dark past which is buried deep inside him and so he communicates most of the time by primitive ways like violence and rejection. Rejection towards his father, a former boxer and a drunk Paddy Conlon (Nolte) who has destroyed the family and now wants a forgiveness for his actions, his brother Brendan Conlon (Edgerton) and everyone around, who tries to reach out to him.
Brendan Conlon's (Edgerton) role is this of the tipical underdog, who had been underestimated his whole life by his father, brother, mother and friends. His responsibility towards his new family (his wife and two daughters) is the only pure, intact relationship in his life, which he wants to preserve by any means necessary, making him a very dangerous man when pushed to the wall!
A great script in my opinion, great story about a dysfunctional family that comes together by the only thing that had brought them close in the past... fighting! Don't miss Warrior, it's one of the year's best!
