Similar to "Jumping the Shark", Unknown Child Syndrome is a phrase that I have coined to describe the fatal disease that TV shows suffer from when the writers have sunk to the lowest of the low of dramatic storylines. A previously unknown child is added to the cast.

The actor/actress is not to be blamed as they are just a child and probably didn't realize that their character was carrying a disease that would infect the host show and eventually kill it.

The following are the known cases of Unknown Child Syndrome. Any additions are greatly welcomed.

Every year or so, there comes along a movie that just couldn't get the grammar or spelling of its title correct. Doesn't that just drive you mad?! Sometimes the filmmakers do it on purpose, and they do have artistic license to do so, but we also have licenses to be grammar police.

For titles like "Me and Orson Welles" or "Marley & Me" that are only giving us part of the full statement, there's really a 50/50 chance that they have it correct, so let's give them the benefit of the doubt.

But the rest aren't going to get away with it. Which movie title, with grammar and/or spelling mistakes, bothers you the most?

For those outside of the U.S., some of you are lucky enough to have had the title corrected upon release in your country. For those situations, the original U.S. title is also given in the description.

a list of 67 titles
A list of all the movies I have seen so far this year in theatres.

a list of 12 titles
The best lesser-known movies, most without any advertising or theatrical release, that first got to be seen in 2012. Updated throughout the year!

The best movies with their first major release in 2012. Updated throughout the year!

All Woody Allen all the time! A ranking of all of Woody Allen's released films, where he was a credited writer and director.

a list of 67 titles
A list of all the movies that I saw in theatres in 2011.

a list of 36 titles
All of the best movies from 2011 including small-release films which I didn't get an opportunity to see until 2011. Everything which I have given 8 stars or more to gets on, and we'll see where the list takes me throughout the year. By the end, there will be a final list with some cuts being made.

a list of 20 people
A continuously updated list of all the best female performances of the year. Some will get recognition, most will not, but all are deserving of some kind of mention, no matter how small the role. In alphabetical order.

A continuously updated list of all the best male performances of the year. Some will get recognition, most will not, but all are deserving of some kind of mention, no matter how small the role. In alphabetical order.

a list of 20 titles
Some of the best movies I have seen this year, but none of them had any kind of advertising, and most didn't get a reasonable release until they came out on DVD in 2010. Go rent them today - they deserve to be seen!

a list of 25 titles
Out of the hundreds (?) of films that I saw this year, these were the best.

No, Black Swan or Winter's Bone didn't make it. Black Swan isn't too far off, top 30 perhaps, but its story was too weak and unoriginal. Winter's Bone doesn't even come close - drugs destroying people's lives isn't interesting to me. I didn't see Toy Story 3 because I'm not big into animation. I also haven't seen Blue Valentine or Another Year but it doesn't look like Blue Valentine will get a wide enough release for me to see it and Another Year isn't coming to my area until February, so they will just have to fight for a spot in the 2011 list.

I have also included an explanation (to the best of my knowledge) for the movies that are technically not 2010.

As a comedic follow-up to The 20 Best Movies I Saw in 2010, these really are the worst of the worst, but I am more just trying to flex my comedy writing skills.

This list is honouring those actors who haven't taken the safe route, but instead picked surprising films with challenging roles and their careers have flourished because of it. The list is in reverse order, the actor who made the best choices is number 15.

a list of 10 titles
Perhaps it's a bit too early to pull out a lesser-known movies list, as I ended up including some films which had significant advertising, but none have received the audience that they deserve - yet. All had their first major release in January, February or March of 2011. There is sure to be at least one that you should go out and find today.

a list of 10 titles
Counting all films which had their first major release in January, February or March of 2011, and, of course, which I have seen.

Only one major studio release of 2011 made it - The Lincoln Lawyer, and it probably won't remain on the list by year's end. The Adjustment Bureau almost made the cut, and I'm still debating whether it deserved to or not. Hollywood is on a science fiction / romance kick and by this time next year, The Adjustment Bureau just might prove it's the best of the lot (behind Inception of course, but that's its own genre).

The major independent films with some heavy hitters behind them - Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor in I Love You Phillip Morris, everybody from Rabbit Hole, and Sofia Coppola for Somewhere - proved to be everything that I was expecting of them. December may be the best month for the best Hollywood films, but January has the best from the previous year that couldn't make it into a big theatre, and those usually prove to be the best, period.
Now, on to the list:

Comedy is arguably one of the hardest genres to write and then peform well but the actors in these films made their career in comedy. This list highlights the films in which top comedy actors turned serious and showed the film community and the world that they can also act, seriously.

In parallel with my list "Actors Who Have Made Good Choices", this list chronicles the actors who are better than the films they star in.

a list of 12 titles
From the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences qualification requirements and the list of eligible original screenplays that they published, here are the 10 best original screenplays from 2010 that are also likely to be nominated. I break it all down for you, why they deserve it, why the Academy thinks they deserve it, who is likely to win, and who I think should win. The academy will only nominate 5, but I'm more generous so I'll present you 10 plus a few I'm not sure about.

a list of 20 titles
Sometimes a movie comes along where immediately upon viewing it I need to know who that actor was, and then I proceed to find new movies because they are in it. This list isn't so much as honouring my favourite actors, but honouring those films which helped me discover my favourite actors. To make it slightly more interesting, I have opted to not include obvious ones like Ethan Hawke in "Dead Poets Society" or Matt Damon in "Good Will Hunting" where lots of people noticed them too.

a list of 10 people
Mostly new and rising actors, but they are at least new to me that I will now be watching for.

Inspired by an article in my local paper, they vowed to write only positive things about every player on our struggling hockey team. So, in the spirit of the season, I am going to say something positive about the lowest rated movies by IMDb users, that I have seen.

My final installment of Correcting the Golden Globes. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association did a really poor job in picking the nominees in musicals or comedies, so I'm doing it for them. Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical or Comedy isn't as bad as Best Film or Best Actor, but there is no need for Angelina Jolie to be on this list.

a list of 5 titles
My second in a three-part series, Correcting the Golden Globes. Since the Hollywood Foreign Press Association clearly has no idea how to pick the best performances in musicals or comedies, I'm going to do it for them. The nominees for Best Performance by an Actor in a Musical or Comedy are:

Who knew that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association had a sense of humour? The nominees in this category were clearly a joke. Or perhaps it's because they don't have a sense of humour. The categories that were completely ludicrous were all musicals or comedies. But in my first of a three part series, Correcting the Golden Globes, I am here to name the real nominees.

The Oscar precursers? Not necessarily, but they are the night before, and there are alot of nominees in common. I just love some of the categories at the Indie Spirits like Best First Feature and Best First Screenplay - my favourites! Now on to the races and the crowned winners.

The Oscar buzz changes a lot over the course of a few months, so what if the year ended on October 31st and only films with a theatrical release before then could be considered? Also if Halloween was New Year's Eve, and the year began with ghosts and goblins... Oh, my, I think I've got the start of an award-winning film on my hands. Enough with that, I now present to you the winners and runners-up for the What If Oscars...

The romantic comedy is an often ridiculed genre, but there's a lot of people, including me, who love them! Here are the top 25, my favourites and which are actually good. I may have gone a little off-genre and included some that aren't necessarily pure romantic comedy, but they are still funny and romantic in their own way.
