Suche Mann für meine Frau (2005 TV Movie)
6/10
a pleasant little screwball comedy
23 August 2005
This is a cheerfully upbeat made-for-TV movie with a slightly saccharine after-taste. A rather neurotic hypochondriac mistakenly believes he is dying of cancer. This causes him to open a campaign to find a worthy successor as husband for his future widow and surrogate father to his children. Needless to say, neither his wife nor his kids have the least idea of what his increasingly quirky behavior is about. Of course he makes a complete hash of things. One of the films' several running gags is that the husband is an author of "how to" advice books and videos. Unfortunately, he is better at advising others than on doing things himself. It seems that nothing in the kitchen has been working for the last two years on account of that he has been trying to "improve" the kitchen all that time. Meanwhile, the family eats pizza every night.

The male lead is Heikko Deutschmann, his long-suffering wife is the ever-charming Aglaia Szyszkowitz. Both are Austrian-born, both are more known from television than from the cinema.
