Star Trek Beyond (2016)
To boldly go where no one has gone before!
Star Trek Beyond is a great addition to the star Trek series! i'm so happy to have seen watched this new addition of the Star Trek Franchise.
Justin Lin has made this 3rd adaption very character-centric and also a film where this is more so Captain Kirks film!
Chris Pine gives a great performance in this 3rd adaption. Kirk is struggling to know who he is, What it means to be his fathers son and to be Captain James T. Kirk.
This film really gives you a sense of Star Trek and the community of other civilizations, there seemed to be more alien type characters involved in the film. All the main characters had their own screen time and had something to add that was important to the story.
Spock's relationship with Nyota was great to learn more about and a good laugh at the same time, which those who've seen the film will understand.
Krall acted by Idris Elba was near perfect but I would of preferred him to have had more screen time! Idris Elba is an actor who can make you aware of his presence. He felt slightly held back in this film. I think more definitely could of been done with Krall and I would of loved to have seen more of his back story.
Plus I felt for just a moment Krall had an almost Darth Vader presence but then was held back a while in the film, that unfortunately disappeared for a while.
If more risks were given, the film could of been an entertaining 3-hours long!
Overall the time that was given is still a highly entertaining blockbuster for this summer!
It was incredibly sad watching the film and watching Anton Yelchin act his scenes in the film. He was extremely talented and you can see that his character was only just evolving.
I've always agreed that music is 50% of a film and in these recent Star Trek films that has been exactly right! The music is fun and exhilarating and kept you on the edge of your seat! Especially near the end. (Realism isn't fully correct in these films) But the ending battle is extremely fun! I started tapping my foot along with the characters in the film.
Moving on from the JJ Abrams edition of Star Trek, it was maybe slightly worrying for some on how this new film would be. With the proved track record of Justin lin I was hopeful that he could keep the same entertainment with characters as he did in the Fast and Furious films. What he did though was develop the characters more and flesh them out and what we have is a film which is based on family, the unity that is Star trek!
Go and enjoy Star Trek Beyond on its 50th anniversary. You will not regret it!
Plus an extra note - Scotty said Lassie so many times in this film!
