Presented by Canadian DJ David 'Kid' Jensen and DJ Emperor Rosko. According the TV guide from The Guardian (London), published on 24 December 1974 (p.14) this episode titled as >Christmas rock with 45<. A press photo on the reverse, confirms the filming date of this episode as 19 December 1974. The text on the reverse of the photo says, 'For your files. ABBA. Photographed at 45's TV show Granada TV Manchester. 19th Dec 74.' This episode was aired on 25 December 1974, 13:15-14:00, ITV (Granada) and does not exist in the archive. Omkring et flygel is not only the name of this TV show, but it is the Danish title of the original instrumental single released in 1961 by 'Bent Fabric and his piano' which was a hit in Denmark and which was later re-released worldwide as The Alley cat which was a US No.1 single. Studio 2 was not a place as thought, but a periodical program series run on TVP1 between 1974-1983 on every third Saturday. ABBA arrived in Warsaw to promote the forthcoming album Arrival which would released on 11 October 1976. The TVP team made a short documentary about the trip including a short interview with mainly Benny, Björn and Stig which was done by journalists during the flight. In this show ABBA performed almost all new songs from the new album and the already well-known world hit Fernando twice. The show also known as ABBA in Poland. ABBA performed (all to playback): 1Arrival 2. Waterloo (over footage of preparations for, and ABBA's arrival at the airport) 3. SOS (separate footage of Agnetha on her own in Poland and Benny, Björn and Frida on the aeroplane) 4. Nina Pretty Ballerina (over footage of them on the steps of the plane and arriving at their hotel) 5. Dancing Queen 6. My Love My Life 7. When I Kissed The Teacher 8. Knowing Me Knowing You 9. Fernando 10. Tiger 11. Money, Money, Money 12. Fernando Agnetha had travelled ahead with her father the day before and then met Benny, Frida and Björn off the plane. A special programme (coinciding with promotion of 'Mamma Mia!') showing some early clips of ABBA on 'Top Of The Pops' and some videos intermingled with chat from Björn. Voice-over was DJ Steve Wright. Clips shown: "Dancing Queen" (1992 PROMO), "Waterloo" (live on Top Of The Pops 1974), "Mamma Mia" (live on Top Of The Pops 1976), "Fernando" (live on Top Of The Pops 1976), "Angelo" by Brotherhood of Man, "SOS" PROMO, "The Winner Takes It All" PROMO, "Thank You For The Music" (from The Mike Yarwood Christmas Show, 1978). ABBA were special guests, along with Andy Gibb, on Olivia Newton-John's TV special. This was during "ABBA Month" in the USA. Broadcast on Saturday 15 November 1975 at 11.30am, repeated a minimum of 4 times on VH1. ABBA performed SOS, were interviewed briefly by Dick Clark and then performed I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do. The intro for this clip was shown on the Emmys award show 2006 during a Dick Clark tribute. Other guests on the show were David Ruffin singing "Walk Away from Love" and comedian Frank Gorshin. ("SOS" is performed)

Dick Clark: "Would you come down here, please". (points Frida, Agnetha and Björn who are standing on a higher stage). "Björn" (walks over to Benny) "Benny Andersson. Since your name is easy for me to pronounce, I will ask you to please introduce me the everybody else, alright?"

Benny: "Well, this is Frida. My...well, I hope she's gonna be my wife."

DC: "We hope for your sake too"

Benny: "We're engaged right now. This is Anna, married to Björn."

DC: "Are you sure of Anna?"

Benny: "That's right."

DC: "What's the full name?"

Benny: "It's Agnetha but Anna is little easier."

DC: "You know the thing that amazes me. I listen to your music, we were talking about it in the dressing room, you people have no Swedish accent. If we're to do an imitation of a Swedish accent in this country, it would be very broad and "ja" and "god". All that."

Björn: "Yeah, yeah."

DC: "Do you notice the difference in English accents?"

Björn: "Yeah, I guess we do 'cause we travel so much around. And you know, the Germans and the French have very, very distinctive accents."

DC: (to Benny) "Can you do a German English accent?"

Benny: "I think Björn could."

DC: "You're gonna trade that off."

Benny: "I'm a coward".

Björn: "Well, the Germans speak like this". (with a German accent imitation)

DC: "Ja, jawol. Und English. How do they speak?"

Benny: "I don't know but they speak more proper English."

Frida: "Proper."

DC: "You ladies are lovely and all of that. Can you (Frida) tell me does he have classical music background?"

Frida: "Oh, no. He hasn't. No."

DC: "How long have you known him?"

Frida: "Seven years."

DC: "You didn't learn before that? I swore that you've must been a conservatory pianist or something. Where do Swedish people learn rock and roll music?"

Benny: "Well, from America mostly and England, of course. We buy all...Well, the records you got here, we got them at home. And also the English."

DC: "How many people live in Sweden?"

Agnetha: "I think it's eight millions now."

DC: "How large is your country as country. Do you know California?"

Frida: "Yeah, it's like California."

DC: "Isn't that amazing. I mean, there's so much music coming from overseas nowadays. Are you familiar with German rock, Kraut rock and roll?"

Björn: "Kraut. Yeah, yeah. I know. I know."

DC: "Does that get us in trouble you call it Kraut rock and roll? Do they have... Is that bad to say, do you know?"

Benny: "No, I don't know."

DC: "We'll hear it from our German friends if it is. I didn't mean any disparaging."

Björn: "I think that's what they call it themselves now because..."

DC: "We're used seeing that music trade papers. But if you say something like that... In this country we're made up off so many different nationalities. We're very sensitive to our backgrounds. If you say anything at all that's Italian that isn't complimentary, you'll hear from the Italians. Or the Poles. Or the Jews. Or the blacks. Or the Chicanos. I mean, we have an amalgam."

BENNY: "Don't forget the Irish."

DC: "The Irish. Do people come from various parts of the world to settle in Sweden."

FRIDA: "Oh yes. From Germany and Yugoslavia. Italy. All over."

DC: "And you're not all blondes. See, we all thought you were blondes. Please, tell me about the next selection, Benny."

Benny: "It's our up-coming single after "SOS" It's called "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do." And it's also on our album."

DC: "Ladies, would you take your spot up here."

ABBA performed 'Waterloo'. Between 29 September - 1 October 1974 ABBA was on a three day promotional visit in US which included their very first performance on American TV, on this "The Mike Douglas Show" episode and in fact, this was probably their only appearance in person on the 1974 USA visit.

Some rehearsal footage of this ABBA appearance was featured on "Austria Wochenshau" on 8 June 1973. In 2004 Austria Wochenschau was released in Austria including 24 seconds of ABBA footage during rehearsals (in black and white). Duration of the whole programme is 49:44.

Redd & Timmie duet with "This Autumn", Nanette & Dinah duet with "The Gentleman Is a Dope". Tommy performs "Precious Memories".'ABBA performs "SOS" and "I do, I do, I do, I do, I do". This program was broadcast on 20 July 1993, BBC, UK, presented by UK DJ John Peel and this documentary telling the story of ABBA from the beginning to the end and featuring the ABBA revival. As an opening scene showing some snippets from 'Top of the Pops' (11 April, 2 May and 25 December 1974), 'Seaside Special' (16 August 1975) and 'Young Nation' (19 November 1976), then the clip 'Ring, ring' from 'The Tommy Cooper Hour' (27 November 1974). Then some old Swedish footages illustrated Björn and Benny's career with Hootenanny Singers and Hep Stars, Frida and Agnetha's solo career in the 60's: excerpts from 'Hemma hos Hootenanny Singers' (16 December 1966), Lördag i Stockholm (15 October 1966), Räkna de lyckliga stunderna (16 August 1969) and När stenkakan slog (11 November 1970).Was a segment from Mr Trendsetter (3 December 1975) about the manager Stig Anderson. A segment from the show 'Made in Sweden' (10 October 1975) with 'Mamma mia', clips from the Japanese 'ABBA Special' performing "The name of the game", Fenando from 'Top of the Pops' (8 April 1976), moments from the Sydney press conference, held on 28 February 1977 (and broadcast on 'This Day Tonight' on the same day), live performance of SOS from 'Seaside Special' (16 August 1975) and a chat from 'Blue Peter' (16 February 1978), 'Dancing Queen' edited from 5 different performances, moments from 'The Mike Yarwood Christmas Show' (25 December 1978), 2 segments from 'ABBA in Sweitzerland' (16 April 1979) illustrated the classic group-times. Moments from 'The Other Side Of The Tracks' interview (19 January 1985), 'The Money Programme' (16 October 1983) and 'Late late breakfast show' (6 November 1982), 'One of us' and 'The winner takes it all' promo segments 'News at Night' (1992), Show Express (11 November 1982) illustrated the late group mood. There are also contributions throughout from the music business: Sir Tim Rice, Ian McCullough from Echo & The Bunnymen, Pete Waterman (he knows Stig very well, Eddi Reader from Fairground Attraction, Elvis Costello, Ray Davies from The Kinks, Roy Wood from Wizzard, Philip Hauenstein and others like the then Fashion Editor of the London Evening Standard Lowri Turner who talked out of her backside. Erasure (June 1992) concert, Björn Again and U2 (11 June 1992) concert excerpts showed the after ABBA time. 'Thank you for the music' (ABBA Special from Japan) closes the program. This was the Season 2, Episode 4, Filmed on 10 November 1966, in Wiesbaden, Germany, broadcast on 16 December 1966 and repeated on 2 September 2005 on channel HR (Hessischer Rundfunk). The program showed a number of the biggest rock bands of the '60s performing their current hits and featured live performances by top British bands of the day (like The Kinks, The Spencer Davis Group and Peter & Gordon) and interviews with the performers. Programme was directed by Ekkehard Böhmer and hosted by Mal Sondock.
