This show has got what most shows are missing. STYLE. And not just any style, a cool Las Vegas, Swingers and Rat Pack style. A style that shows like PUSH NEVADA or KINGPIN had. This is something they would be crazy to cancel. It's hilarious. Its about World Champion poker player who also happens to be a reformed gambler. And with that he owes depts, gets the "urge", etc. So Check it out. you won't regret it.
Oh and when you watch it be sure you have a deck of cards in hand because his wanting to play will get to you.
Windtalkers gets lost in an updraft.
Leave it to John Woo to rely on special effects to pull a movie
though. As far as war epics are concern this is right at the bottom next to
Pearl Harbor. Nic Cage was wrong for the part and John Woo was wrong for the
director. The only people that pull this movie through is Adam
Beach & Roger Willie the two Navajo soldiers. But aside from those two the movie is just one big cliche of past
war movies. There's the racist guy(Chick played by Noah Emmerich) who later
learns to deal with his feelings. The man who keeps talking about
his wife that obviously dies and many more to mention. The movie may be based on true stories but it is a little
unbelievable and some of the scenes are historicaly inaccurate. When I say inaccurate I mean the realism of weaponry. The
grenades explosions were to big, to much smoke coming off the
mortars, and again many more to count. This movie has it's moments but there two far spread a part to
enjoy. Watch it to catch goofs. But if it's a war movie your looking for stick
with "Saving Pvt. Ryan" "The Thin Red Line" "Sands of Iwo Jima"
etc. I do not recommend this movie. It's not worth anyones time.
The Salton Sea (2002)
The most Genius film of 2002!!!!
D.J. Caruso(director) and Tony Gayton(writer) have created this
years masterpiece. This is the kind of film thats so entertaining
and thought provoking, everybody fails to recognize it. Val Kilmer plays Tom Val Allen or is it Danny Parker? An a role
that should deserve him an Oscar nomination but probably won't.
The same goes for Vinent D'Onofrio who plays the freaky and
scary Pooh Bear. This film shows us how lost someone can get when you lose
someone. When he loses his wife in the Salton Sea. He travels
the earth trying to find out why? And finding himself trapped in a
seedy, friendly and ugly world of drugs. Like I mentioned earlier this movie is so excellently done, it
probably won't get recognized for any award. Plus it was released
to early. But it does come out on dvd soon. Which doesnt matter
because I saw in theatre 7 times. But when it does rush out and
get it.(Sept. 10)
All in all Salton Sea is a must, must see!!!!!!!
Guy Ritchie is a genius!!!!!!!!
This is my second favorite movie of all time. (#1 being Swingers) Guy Ritchie has the ability to intertwine more tha one. His plot telling ability takes more than story and has them cross each others pass.
Snatch is a masterpiece. The acting is both dramatic and hilarious which I hope was Guy's goal.
This movie was very underrated, and lost under the shuffle of the mega multi budget films. But it did have one the largest openings in the U.K.
Snatch is a must see.
Reign of Fire (2002)
I loved this movie
I thought this movie was excellently done. Critics said that the dialogue was corny but I really had no problem with it.
The dragons were crafted beautifully, the way they each had their own style and craft showed us that the makers of this movie spent time on each and everyone of the dragons to give the audience that small bit enjoyment.
The plot of this movie was believable, compared to most post- apocalyptic movies. It did had very hard competition on it's release date. But third place is pretty good. At least it wasn't a bomb.
All in all. Reign of Fire is a must see.
Blue Crush (2002)
An Excellent Summer Movie
You can't go to this movie expecting to see a teenie bopper romper. It's much than that on so many levels. It's about real life, friendship and short lived love. It shows that if your whole life is dedicated to something like surfing, you gotta work real jobs. Hence their jobs as hotel maids.
Anne Maire Chadwick(Bosworth) gives an amazing performance as the rising surfer superstar. Joining her are her two friends Lena(Sanoe Lake the only girl who can actually surf in the movie) and Eden(Michelle Rodriguez), and sister Penny(Mika Boorem.
The girls of this movie aren't the only reason to see this flick. There are men sharing the screen bring great comic relief(Matt Davis and Faizon Love).
This movie was directed by John Stockwell who came out with last years great Crazy/Beautiful. He's outdone himself this time.
If your a surfer or even if your not one you'd enjoy these amazing surf scenes. Even seeing the pipe wipe people out are just as entertaining.
Sum it up, "Blue Crush" is must see, and soon to be a surfer classic.
