Very Fun Film to Watch, 25 March 2010

*** This review may contain spoilers ***

Here we have the two Coreys reunited for this fun flick from 1992, filmed entirely in Ontario, Canada. This film is well known for its nude scenes with Nicole Eggert and Corey Haim. I was very saddened to hear of Corey Haim's death, and I watched this movie as soon as I got the chance, since I hadn't seen it for a very long time. All the stars look great in this picture and although this movie was filmed in 1992 it looks, sounds and feels like it was filmed in the 1980's. The soundtrack, featuring a fantastic and obscure single by John James "She Bought Love" adds to the 80's feel.

Though the majority of the funny moments in this film are unintentionally funny, there are a few quips in the movie that actually work. The homicide detective in this movie played by Gary Farmer is absolutely hilarious, especially in the scene in the interrogation room with Corey Haim.

The scenes with Corey Feldman and Corey Haim are great, and they are both fun to watch as always. Nicole Eggert is stunning in this movie and she plays the conniving seventeen year old brat convincingly and with ease. There are some movies that just "click" with some people, and this is how I'd describe the feeling the first time I watched this one.

Without a doubt, this is one of my favourite movies. Let's not forget that a movie's purpose is to entertain people, and it certainly puts a smile on my face each and every time I watch it. Don't miss the opportunity to see this movie. Get it on DVD while it's still available.

A Great Ending To A Great Show, 8 December 2008

*** This review may contain spoilers ***

I was more than happy with this final episode of Trailer Park Boys. I personally don't think they could have ended this series any better. I love how the show ended with Julian driving a DeLorean, which happens to be one of my favourite cars of all time. Cyrus makes an appearance at the recreation centre and is hilarious with his dance with the girls that he brings with him. Lahey is incredibly drunk as usual in this episode and his character is what really brings the show together in its final outing. Randy finally getting hosed down and washed with the dish soap is absolutely hilarious. Then there's the finale when all the boys are rounded up and taken back to "Con College". The ending was very well done and I like how Lahey renamed the park. 10/10 and a very worthwhile viewing. Very funny and creative. I'll miss this show.

Almost Better Than The Original, 12 June 2008

I think I was around 6 when I first saw this movie and I can remember my parents watching it with me and they actually apologized to me after it ended because of the gratuitous nudity and the vulgarity. I particularly remember the scene when Philip gets his arteries torn out and becomes Freddy's puppet as he leads him down the halls of the mental hospital. That scene still stands out in my mind today and I still grimace when I watch my DVD copy of this movie from time to time. Patricia Arquette is excellent in this film and Heather Langenkamp is very good as well. It was pointed out in another review of this movie that each of the victims in the movie that Freddy kills have their own unique traits, and Freddy uses these to determine their nightmare atmospheres and their deaths (such as Taryn dying from Freddy giving her an overdose of drugs with multiple syringes). This is one of the things that makes the movie so good. I found that the scene where Freddy as the hot nurse seduces Joey was very amusing. The flying tongues were brilliant as well. The ending I thought wasn't the greatest but the audience needed to know there was going to be another sequel and the light coming on in the popsicle-stick Freddy house was one way to let everyone know Freddy would be back for more. I highly recommend this flick to anyone who doesn't mind bad dreams too much.

Very Amusing For The Bond Fan, 9 May 2008

I found this movie to be particularly interesting for me as I am perhaps the biggest James Bond fan ever. The 20-minute Bond dream sequence is totally 80's which is another thing I like and I was cracking up at the music playing during the dream sequences. Despite this part of the film, I quite enjoyed the rest of it as well. The whole movie just gave me a warm feeling as I was watching it. I thought the ending was pretty fitting as well. I would really like to get a copy of this movie but, of course, it is a very difficult movie to find. I once taped the latter half of it (including the James Bond sequence thankfully) off T.V. but I've since lost the tape. Jeez... I remember frantically looking around for a blank tape so I could start taping it right away and I found one just in time for that sequence. This is definitely a fun movie and it's strange that I'm now living in B.C. (the province in Canada right next door to Alberta where this was filmed in 1987). I'd have to say that most people would enjoy this film when you're in the right mood with an open mind. I think the movie turned out to be exactly what the writer/filmmakers intended it to be; just a fun teen movie that delivers a nice message effectively and shows the importance of forgiveness and compromise and in a very cute, innocent way.

Troll 2 (1990)
Quite an enjoyable and unique experience..., 28 February 2008

I cannot put my finger on what makes this movie so much fun for me to watch over, and over, and over again! I remember my mom renting a VHS copy of this for me when I was 11 or 12 and I remember watching it at least 3 times before the one-week rental period was over. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the goblin witch (Creedence) absolutely gorgeous in the few short minutes we see of her with her "old power" and lack of witch make-up? I think so. The overall pace of this movie is pretty quick and I can honestly say I was not bored at any time while watching Troll 2. I don't think I've ever laughed at anything so hard in my life. I can even remember my mom yelling down the stairs at me asking if I was okay because I was laughing so hard. This will always be one of my favourite movies of all time because of its unique entertainment value. This movie is something very special in its own way, in my mind at least, and now that I have the Troll/Troll 2 DVD I'm very happy. This should not be missed if you even remotely enjoy the movies of the so-bad-they're-good variety.
