Ashanti (1982)
Ashanti....Good entertainer
The film was Good entertainer, in line with those days. Those days such films with so many actors/star cast was liked by the masses. It was big Hit among front chairs, though those audience who prefer Class didn't quite like the movie. Rajesh Khanna's performance was very average. Mithunda was at his peak those days & above all all three heroines Parveen, Zeenat & yes even Shabbo looked very beautiful especially in the Lavani song. Amit Kumar-Asha Bhosle's duet became Hit whereas Lavani song & Chandrashekhar Gadgeel's "Shakti day" were moderately popular. Film did well in many parts whereas it could celebrate Silver Jubilee in 1 or 2 Centres. This might be last Hit from House of F C Mehra, Celebrated Film maker of yesteryear's.
Agar Tum Na Hote (1983)
Average Entertainer now remembered only for music
The film certainly has unusual storyline compared to those days. Title song was Big Hit. Today film is remembered only for music. Rajesh Khanna was past his prime. One can say that Rekha was at her pinnacle. Raj Babbar was very good actor, but here he is slightly in negative shed. Kaka i.e. Rajesh Khanna did such roles earlier in films like Amardeep, "Thodisi Bewafai", Dhanwan etc. So it was not new for Kaka's fans. RD's music was too not very outstanding. Though there 1 or 2 Gems. Song sung by Rekha was much publicized in Press & Film periodicals those days. But when the film was released, the song which became Hit was something else i.e. Title song. If you are fan of any of the three actors i.e. Rajesh Khanna, Rekha or Raj Babbar then the film is for you.
But still the film did well in Certain pockets like Punjab, Delhi, MP etc.
