Terrible, terrible, awful
Was scanning titles and put this one without checking IMDb first. The acting was awful, the plot nonexistent. Seems like there was no effort into putting this movie together. Maybe it was a way for an investor to purposely lose some money for tax reasons? It made no sense whatsoever and the only reason I kept watching it was because I was expecting something to happen. Even the facial expressions on the actors/actress looked fake. The only frightening thing about this movie is that they are threatening a sequel. Don't even put it on, its that bad.
Great start, stumbling finish.
Acting is awesome, even though tobacco companies must have financed the movie given how much Detective Lynch lights up. The slowly developing story of the beginnings of the FBI profiling unit is engaging and keeps the viewers interest. Unfortunately, and without giving anything away, the shows just comes to an abrupt halt in the last episode. Obviously there are plans for at least one more season but the viewer feels cheated, let down, the way the series concluded season one. The tension between the FBI bureaucracy and the desire of the profiling unit to explore its fascinating potential is realistic. Again, there is not yet an attempt to explain the intro to each episode, another let down for the viewer. But all in all, its a great show and clearly has already developed a significant following.
The Mountain Between Us (2017)
Boring and predictable
At best this would be a passable TV movie, albeit not even on Lifetime. While I managed to stay awake I would whisper to my wife what would happen next and I was always right on the mark. Surprising that the dog could romp in subfreezing weather and deep snow but his paws never froze? More telling was the awful acting, especially beneath the usual quality of Kate Winslet. And without giving away the ending, again predictable. What could have been a tense, edge of seat story about trying to survive a plane crash gave way to a lot of closeups and fake love story. Thank goodness there was a Lab in the movie, best acting came from the dog. What made the night fun was an enjoyable dinner with my wife, snow caps and reclining, relaxing luxury lounge movie seats. Other than that I would like to have my ticket money refunded Kate: fire your agent and stay away from such fluff.
Needs Matt Damon or Brad Pitt
What keeps this show from an 8 or 9 is Bateman as the lead in this series. He is flat and doesn't have the charisma or screen presence like Brad Pitt or Matt Damon to pull off the lead character here. That said, the plot is good, sometimes too much slow dialogue. But there is good potential for second season if there are more plot lines tying in the drug cartel. Acting is fantastic, Laura Linney is A list for sure. (I just hope she doesn't get into the ego politics like Streep and Clooney and lose credibility). Bateman would be fine as a secondary character and his directing skills look good. The other characters are fascinating and all well acted.
Fear the Walking Dead (2015)
During the first few episodes in 2015I almost gave up on this show. The acting and character development, especially Travis and Nick, was horrible. Luckily for me I stayed with it and maybe new writers or a reaction to the early negative fan review, it is awesome!!! Just saw the mid season finale and can't wait for more. Congrats to the actors/actresses and the writers for making this show as good or even better than The Walking Dead! Love it!
Oceans Rising (2017)
Encouraging they used a female President. But then they made her too young, too impatient and clueless. (Chelsea?) Terrible acting. The trip to Galveston looked like it was taken from a cheap mobile phone camera. At least the old Japanese horror flicks had a sense of humor. Ocean's Rising takes itself serious but doesn't deliver. Total waste of time.Try again Netflix, you have done some great shows.
Worst two TV episodes: ever! SPOILER ALERT
The writers should be fired. The last two episodes were the worst TV ever. Dream sequences? Come on, what a cheap way to take a story that for awhile was engaging.
I feel like I wasted hours watching this series and will make sure I don't get caught up in any TV with these writers and producers. Not blaming the actors, they did their job, even though they had crap to work with.
All in all, stay away from this show. Cheap ending without any creativity.
The Walking Dead (2010)
Mediocre season with the Negan character
Show was going great, good acting, good writing. Then came Began. And boring after boring monologue. A guy with a baseball bat terrorizing the world? Really? For awhile, Negan went into the background. It must be writer's block that they brought his character back. Show dangerously close to jumping the shark. They need some new writers and end this stupid story with Negan and his talking. Overall, the challenges and new plot twists are a good sign the show still has potential.
The Good Wife: Nine Hours (2010)
Liberal bias against the death penalty episode.
This episode strains credibility and has all the earmarks of a liberal statement against the death penalty.
The team works against the clock to save the life of a man convicted by a jury and the sentence upheld on appeal. Every effort made is to play on the emotions and the writers use prayer, race, unsympathetic prison wardens and every trite turn of the of the plot to turn the viewer against the death penalty.
If future episodes are pushing a political agenda, I will be turning off The Good Wife. My recommendation: either skip this episode outright or watch it understanding the writers are not so subtly make a political statement.
Boardwalk Empire (2010)
The cigarette smoking is like one big commercial for Big Tobacco. Yes, supposedly its a "period piece" and people smoked. But come on, if the writers/director/actors got money from Big Tobacco then at least let the public know. That being said, the acting is terrific and the storyline outstanding. The time period is brought to life by the lighting, cinematography and props. We are binge watching it on Amazon and its much easier to follow the plot that way. The period between episodes and seasons is long when watched as it came out. HBO and Amazon do a great job with shows such as this while the networks flounder around. Overall, except for being in the clutches of the tobacco companies, I love this show.
