Downgraded it to 2/10
After watching thru the first 5 episodes, actually, after suffering Thru the first 5 episodes, I gave this train wreck a 4 out of 10, but today, after ending the series, I downgraded it to 2/10. This show is worse than those B horror movies. What an absolute spoil of a great cast! This show insults the viewer's intelligence in some many levels that it makes you want to break something at how insulting it is!
Professionals making infantile mistakes FBI agents shooting as if they are my little sister Awful scripting Bad story telling Disastrous TV series
Only because movies are reviewed by so many people that don't get outraged when their intelligence is insulted, this production can have anything above 5/10
Terra Nova (2011)
Never saw a family with less moral and ethical values
Never saw a family with less moral and ethical values than the one portrayed here in this series. Wow! Lying to the parents, stealing, cheating, fornicating... it never ends. And moral relativism is embedded into the movie itself. Nothing is wrong. Nothing is immoral. They just say "I am sorry" and that is supposed to take care of it all. Plus, the series is full of reruns from previous sci-fi previous movies. The special effects are terrible and there are a bunch of kids doing whatever they want with absolutely no adult ruling their immoral activities. If this is the way all of America is today, America is up for a rude awakening very soon!
If you are a Dominican, specially if you are a Dominican living abroad, this movies will seem like going back to your beloved motherland.
When you watch this movie: its cast, acting, story line, and you think you are going to watch something equivalent or competing with even a B-Hollywood style movie, you will be disappointed.
However, if you are a Dominican, specially if you are a Dominican living abroad, this movie will seem like going back to your beloved motherland. And yes, though the acting and the story line are suspect at best, for us Dominicans, this comedy hits home. It makes you laugh and it makes you cry... it makes you be... well, a Dominican! Our customs, our values, our priorities, our crazy families, the "barrio", the "tigueres", the "motoristas", the girls with amazingly large "behinds", the Bachata, Merengue, our food... and so forth. It is all what makes Dominican Republic, Dominican Republic! Any suggestions made to the producers regarding improving the acting and the story line, should be seriously considered. There was a lot that could have been made different in this movie. Yet again, if you live the lives these two guys were living in, all this seems, well... "naturally Dominican" to you.
So, for Dominican filmmaking, which is an endeavour that is still a work in progress, LotoMan gets a 7 for effort!

This movie is not very popular among the ruling class in Mexico
This movie is not very popular among the ruling class in Mexico. As a matter of fact, they tried to vanish it and for a long time, it was extremely hard to get a copy of it.
This film presents the cynicism with which the ruling class has governed Mexico since very early in its history. Rampant racism against the Indian population, the gross corruption used to buy everything and anybody, as well as the simplicity and natural goodness of the regular Mexican folks.
We, citizens of other Latin American countries, find multiple similarities in what this movie tries to convey in our local governments. Corruption, abuse of power, traffic of influence, Media acquiescence with the status quo and the long-suffering stoicism and goodness of our common people.
This film should be a must see for every student, public official and politician. Even the clergy should be obligated to watch. They too would get some of that powder stuff at the end! Lic. Dawlin A. Ureña
