A must see film that deals with the very real and very hard problems we see in the education system and our lives.
Detachment is a very real and very hard hitting film about a number of hard truths seen today in the education system, how teachers struggle to teach their kids when they do not want to learn, they don't even want to be in the building, how they are put down day in and day out for just trying to give these kids a chance at a better life, it is also about feeling very alone in this world, like you don't have a chance or that no one is really giving you one. It is a tough film to watch in some cases because it really does hit some nerves with the truths it deals with, it makes you empathise and truly feel for the characters and their inner struggle with day to day life.
I feel as if every one should watch this film, not just for entertainment purposes. There is a huge reason it is my favourite film of the year, it just frames so many of the very real problems we see in, not only the education system but in our lives also. Adrian Brody, in fact everyone in this film gives a phenomenal performance and makes you truly believe they are struggling with the raw emotion they deliver. Tony Kaye has made an unsung masterpiece here I feel since I know there just isn't going to be many people who will actually sit down and watch it, to those that do, they will very likely walk away from it with a new perspective.
