The Battery (2012)
I could've watched this movie in 5 minutes
I think it was 1:40 and I watched it in about 25 minutes, fast forwarding through most of the boring nonsense and just fished for scenes where someone was talking. This could have been a half hour TV show except it was stretched and filled with a bunch of nothing.
I didn't give it a 1 though. I gave it a 4 because it was slightly entertaining but only about 10 minutes worth.
Maybe I was just impatient, but I just can't invest that much time while a writer/director was plugging music and filming pretty landscape for a film that could've been an episode of Walking Dead.
Minimum review is 10 lines and I have nothing more to say. zzzzzzz
What a piece of total garbage
Only watched it because it was on Netflix online and I'm a sci-fi freak. I went past the 10 minutes to give it a chance. I got to 30 minutes and I want to vomit. I think this would be a great movie to show terrorist prisoners as a means of torture. The 2 blondes (guy and girl) and the worst actors I've ever seen, making Steven Segal look like Laurence Olivier. OK, TELL US WHERE THE BOMB IS OR YOU'LL HAVE TO WATCH THAT BLONDE LADY ACT FOR 5 MORE MINUTES! I really wanted to invest in this movie but the acting is just way too crappy to ever believe.
Think I'll Fast Forward through the rest of this and move on to something with better acting like Barney the Dinosaur.
First Born (2007)
I think this was about my ex-wife
I usually love anything with Elizabeth Shue. This one just didn't seem right. The movies leaves to many questions unanswered. What was interesting, however, on a personal level, was that this reminded me of my ex-wife's behavior after our child (2nd born), so I give high grades for realism.
At one point in the film, I thought this was going to Rosemary's baby reincarnate, and sadly it wasn't. The story line was sub-par and I wouldn't recommend anyone seeing movie as I feel I just wasted 2 hours of my life.
So why 4 and not 1? There are far worse films out there and at least this one was decently produced.
Oooh, red tape... scary... NOT
Plain and simple, they cannot make scary movies any more. OK, the Ring, Forgotten, and the Grudge were good. This movie was plain stupid. There was nothing keeping me interested except the leading lady's curves. The plot made no sense nor was it directed with any... well... uh... direction!
People turn in to ashes... because of what? And then they decide to kill themselves only when the leading lady appears. This movie stunk.
This movie had a lot of hype but that's all it is. Sorry. Crapolla. Maybe if the old man was in a wheelchair in the library and as he left, his wheelchair came back without him. That would be great. Also, this is an epidemic where ever cellular waves can reach. Lucky I have Cingular, so I'm safe.
Attack Force (2006)
I can't take it anymore
drss1942 really took the words right out of my mouth. I loved Segal's early films and feel like the only one who is still faithful to him. I just saw this movie (ok, fell asleep about 90% through, so I didn't see the end). When I woke up and saw I was at the DVD menu, I was thankful I didn't subject myself to any more of that movie and didn't dare find out what happened at the end. There was something strange about the voice of Segal and others. Kinda reminded me of the original Mad Max where the voice were dubbed, but in the same language (Australlian is English, right? :) Anyway, if I had 10 thumbs, they'd all point down right now for this Segal injustice.
The River King (2005)
Not so great
The movie had everything set up to be a great feature, but instead turned out to be a dud. Very disappointing.
It starts out with a body found in the river. Two cops find it (one being Ed Burns). They flip flop from being completely inept to actually caring. While they're not sure what to do with the body, they notice a strange feature on the corpse's chest. Ed Burns takes this case seriously as everyone else wants to dismiss it so quickly as a suicide or accident. This is the great plot build up. The rest is downhill.
Movie is still nice to watch if you like Ed Burns but a drag on entertainment.
What the ????
I just saw this movie with my 13 year old daughter. I know it had its scary moments because she kept coming to sit next to me during some tense moments in the movie. The movie started out great. It had the potential to be a great work of horror. The story follows a boy turned young man who is victimized by the boogeyman. Everyone around him seems to be victimized as well.
Problems: The story has a glimpse of his mother who, in passing on, visits him and berates him. This is never hit upon again. In fact, when the story flashes back to her, she seems to be a kind woman who would never do that.
The film also has a scene that involves time displacement. It is touched upon briefly in a hotel room but never fully realized.
If the above two problems didn't do it for me, the ending was very unsatisfying. Even the alternate ending was pretty crappy. I promised I wasn't going to provide any spoiler so I'll just say I couldn't believe it when the credits started appearing.
Why give it as much of a 4 out of 10? It did have its scary moments and the first 3/4's of the movie seemed to have been done well.
Amazing - A 10
I hate so many movies lately and haven't rated a movie a '10' since The Matrix (favorite). This movie cycled through my emotions of fear, anger, sadness, joy, and laughter. I was actually expecting a dramatic, perhaps slower paced Unbreakable type, but was pleasantly surprised at the excitement this movie delivers.
Megiddo: The Omega Code 2 (2001)
I didn't get this movie for its biblical purpose. In fact, had I known that it was based on Christianity, I probably wouldn't have bought it. The movie was good though but it could have been a little less religeous. I own the first movie and liked the story and action so I was compelled to buy the 2nd without even reading the box.
