Another pleasant surprised!
25 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
If it wasn't so telegraphed (the characters fates) would've rated 10 out of 10, other than that: loved it. Stereotypical characters trapped in a big house get killed one by one, no one particular stands out and there is some bad acting but overall a pleasant surprise. Was never sure who the final girl was going to be!

Spike (2008)
What can I say...
25 July 2017
I LOVED IT! I really did. Started as a typical horror film with a small group of friends stranded then we meet Spike! I mean yes, it is a just another slasher film but one that surprised me. The characters were typical fodder and that's alright in my book.

So glad I bought the DVD! Wondering if it ever came out on blu ray.

The Slayer (2017)
I liked it for what it is
25 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
... a no budget slasher short film. Editing was not good and there was zero characterization but I still liked it. Wasn't sure what was going on at times and couldn't tell who the final girl was gonna be till the second half when most characters get killed.

The other short film, featuring the same cast (and location): Lurking Evil was a lot better.

I give The Slayer 5 out 10 and Lurking Evil 7 out of 10.

Vampire Camp (2012)
Camp, very camp...
21 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
and not much else. Actually, there are two or three genuinely funny moments and a cast going full throttle. Everyone seems to be having a blast with the material handed to them, in particular Zack Myers, David Salsa, David Rowley and lead actor Scott Ford as the Professor. But like me, I'm pretty sure most people renting this are either Vampire or Reuben Rox fans. Spoiler: There's very little vampire mayhem and even less of the actor.

As far as the female actors, none of them were particularly interesting to watch. They were a bit too stereotypical, even a bit annoying for my taste. Plus the fact that one of the leads seemed bored most of the time didn't help matters. I don't know, maybe her character was meant to be boring. And I'm sure ALL male and female the characters were meant to be very stereotypical, but personally, I think the male cast was simply stronger and had better material.

The very loose plot involves a renowned vampire hunter and his assistants getting ready to conduct a vampire killing retreat. Among the attendees are actual vampires who soon begin preying on the human attendees.

Something I wasn't expecting and left me wanting more were zombies popping up towards the end. It almost made up for the lack of the aforementioned mayhem.

Still, I did enjoy the movie. I've always checked out the work of Indie Horror Filmmakers and "Vampire Camp" kept me entertained.

PS- I'm not friends or was involved with this movie in any way/shape/form. I'm just a fan/reviewer of these films.

I liked the music
8 January 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Two gals, two "tough" guys and the obligatory young jerk tired of living in a self contained city venture out in the woods for some illegal hunting.

The plot is more complicated than my description, there are all sorts of sub-plots that made me fast-forward in more than one occasion, but overall I liked this indie film. I especially liked the music used in the opening credits and some of the FX weren't as bad as some folks on these boards say.

The acting was varied. The main cast does what it can with their lines and unfortunately more often than not, I had a hard time understanding as they would switch from English to French! Some of the CGI FX were pretty bad, but the zombies looked pretty okay and while the film drags a little, it kept me entertained.

If you like low budgeted films like I do, go ahead and rent/buy/download this Canadian effort. AND no, I'm not related in a ny way/shape/form to the filmmakers, Am just a fan of these weird sci-fi/horror films.

I liked the first 7 minutes.
8 January 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I bought this DVD for three bucks because I'm a fan of low budget horror films, sadly I was a little disappointed. At least I didn't pay that much :)

BUT, I did like the first few minutes with the "housewive" being stalked in her own home by Richard Nixon and some of the FX were way better than I was expecting.

My second favorite scene involved a drunk couple who run into Richard Nixon on the deserted road, that was one hell of a funny scene!

The ending with the final girl bored me and I actually watched it while fast-forwarding.

I love this movie, it rocks!!!
8 June 2002
Warning: Spoilers
I love this movie so much I bought it on VHS and DVD, and seen them a lot... Sure, the plot isn't very original, but the effects I think were well done and graphic enough to please horror fans like myself. The location was creepy enough for me, the first time I watched I kept waiting for something or someone to jump out (and it did lol).

I found all the male cast members very attractive which didn't hurt either. For the guys there is the lovely and talented Hope Marie Carlton who appears nude and/or semi-nude a few times ( I'm a straight female, but have always enjoyed watching Hope in all of her movies, nude or not).

Decent production values, bad acting
8 June 2002
This movie is not good, or bad, but its entertaining if you have nothing else to watch, it has virtually no blood, but do all the female cast walk around braless under the rain, a fat woman kills all the people who stop by her motel after she goes wacko and kills her daughter who just happened to be practicing black magic...Anyway, the male actors are awful the females are great.

The Zombie Chronicles (2001 Video)
ok zombie flick
3 May 2002
This low budget horror zombie movie is entertaining, in it several young people get killed in different ways by zombies, the acting is ok, the effects good...Seems to be shot on a cheap camera, but nonetheless this still pretty ok for its budget...

The Backlot Murders (2002 Video)
Big boobs, bad plot, little gore, and Priscilla Barnes
18 April 2002
The saving grace of this boring slasher flick are Priscilla Barnes and Charles Fleischer who as you can see in the outtakes had fun making this awful boring movie. It has a little blood, lots of fake breasts and a large body count, only 3 scenes are more or less okay, one being a girl chased by the killer in her underwear, two: Charles and Priscilla chewing scenery and the unexpected end. If you want to see pretty boys and girls showing their stuff go right ahead and rent it, but you'll be disappointed with everything else about this movie.
