I gave one of my high rare votes 10. It is one of the best movies I have seen in the last years. The Call is simply terrifying, high adrenaline, believable, thrilling, suspense, fast paced and masterfully done. Perhaps a bit too violent. The director did a very great job here. Thank you. The camera work was in the scary moments very interesting. I spent really a very entertaining evening. The events in this thriller took sometimes my breadth away and after I watched it I had to calm down. I cannot understand why the recent reviews here are so negative. The actors Halle Berry, Abigail Breslin and Michael Eklund delivered a very convincing and respectable performance. If you like this genre of film watch Seven, Taken, The Cellular, Trapped, The Silence of the Lambs or Flight Plan. Read therefore my critics.
Jack Reacher is definitely not a must see. In my opinion it tries too
hard to create a thrilling and intriguing atmosphere. It let me
thinking always a wanna be thriller. The sequences are built sometimes
too slow paced. Then certain key scenes let some questions opened that
I don't want to spoil out here. The car chase was pretty nice and the
fight scenes were funny where I had to laugh very loud. Werner Herzog
was really scary. Tom Cruise did no doubt better movies in the past for
example in the Mission Impossible parts.
Watch instead the millennium trilogy from the writer Stieg Larsson. Especially the Hollywood version The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. My vote reaches 6 out 10. Too overrated here.
The first time I heard from this hot six pack TV series was on the
French news channel TF1. The new actor Marc Lavoine known as one of the
greatest French music artist explained there why he participated in
this production. As the police officer he gave a very respectable
performance like William Fiechtner or Donald Sutherland. What I found
very good was the nonstop puzzles to solve the case. Even the
implemented elements surprised me. For example in the kidnapping part
where the victim had a chip. In another chapter a hidden camera filmed
the presumed villain. Alright, you may say this is all déjá vu but if
you are interested in such crime mysteries this is for you. The key of
this great success is no doubt also the chosen places all over Europe
where these six movies have been made. To mention Germany or South of
France. Crossing Lines should be viewed by all the fans of this genre.
If you liked it watch both Taken or La Proie. Read therefore my critics on IMDb.com.
Final vote: 8/10
A true story set in Poland during the Second World War. Jewish people
chased by Nazis. Incredible scenes with children that suffered with
their parents. Great respect for all that survived this nightmare. The
actors delivered here all solid performances. The sceneries were well
set up. The director did a fine fob. The movie was never boring but
could have been anyway shorter. The world should never forgot what
happened to our humanity. God bless all the victims.
If you are interested in such documentation don't miss the other holocaust films Der Letzte Zug, Die Fälscher, The Pianist or Black Book.
I watched the Swedish-German original version. But I liked the first part The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo / Verblendung with Daniel Craig much more than this sequel. Why? Cause the cinematography was better than in Verdammnis. I found the picture was too frozen here with lot of dark colors. Therefore I have got some very nice images from Sweden. Then sorry, I saw this solid thriller with German audio that destroyed the atmospheric dialogs from the great actors that spoke in their Swedish language. The action scenes were well executed and it was never boring. Now I am curious to see the last part Vergebung that will be still the original version. At least I will be prepared. Anyway, congratulations to the writer Stieg Larsson that created three great episodes with full of suspense and intrigues. Damn good 7/10.
This part two sticks dramatically to the first one. The wonderful girl Emmanuelle Béart delivered an interesting performance. Yves Montand did a great job here showing all the repertoire of this psychological character profile. He was really a great actor, chapeau. But Daniel Auteuil was also very credibly in this role until the end. Bravo. Finally, Claude Berri directed again like a master. Thank you for these two very nice films. Don't expect a fast paced story because it has a slow but surprising countdown. For all that likes the surroundings South of France this is a rich experience to not miss. See also the other highlight La Fille du Pusatier from the same writer Marcel Pagnol. Vote: 8/10.
The surroundings near Aubagne in the Bouche Du Rhône in France are
wonderfully shot. The story by Marcel Pagnol is well adapted that takes
step by step a dramatic end. All the actors did a fine Job and I am
curious to see part two "Manon La Source". The sceneries in the time
after the second world war are well built and developed. I recommend
you to watch it in the original south french dialect with English
subtitles. I spent an enjoyable and relaxing Saturday night with my
Don't miss the other great movie from the writer Pagnol called La Fille Du Pusatier. Please read my critic on IMDb.
Final vote: 8/10.
I expected more drive and suspense. The first part was a little bit boring expect the first ten minutes. Only in the second part the countdown began finally but too late for me to give Argo more than an average vote. There are some slow paced sequences that could have been better. Ben Affleck directed this terrorist movie quiet well. In my opinion the other drama movie Munich has been realized much more credibly and cooler. Perhaps the stuff was not enough to develop more depth. Anyway, a great plus in Argo Is the real created atmosphere of the late 70ies. All mixed with nice rock music hits of that time. I liked a lot also the last scenes with the plane taking off Iran. I think that Argo is too overrated here and I would still prefer Munich even it is longer to watch. A must see in this genre is The Debt. Final rating: 6/10.
I discovered this thriller on IMDb. After I have seen the trailer I
thought this one I don't have to miss. In fact it is a fast paced
action movie with many elements shown already in other hot films such
as Taken or Bourne. The main actors delivered all credible
performances. The agents therefore came too weak here. What I didn't
like was the cheap cold and dark picture all over the running time. The
end was one of the best scenes. I spent really an entertaining evening.
This DVD finds a nice place in my best of collection.
Solid rating 6.5/10.
I recommend also both Taken or The Bourne.
I had not great expectations after I have read the reviews. But Taken 2
was much more better than the critics wrote here. For all the following
reasons I gave a solid 7/10:
1) Fast paced action movie with full of suspense
2) Very interesting detective and espionage details
3). Short running time of the DVD
4) The good story sticks to the first Taken
5) Good direction
6) Full of adrenaline car chases in Istanbul
7) The end leaves place for a possible third part
What there could have been better is perhaps to built up more subtle elements in the story. Here it went to quick and without surprising moments to the point.
