Aftermath (IV) (2017)

Terrible Message
10 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This was a pretty good movie up until the end. Arnold should have just done life in jail or killed himself at the end of the movie like a real man. Getting out after 10 years then being forgiven for murder with no real consequences was a bad way to end it. 10 years is nothing. It sends a terrible message that you can be forgiven for coldblooded murder. We don't hunt down the people that kill our loved ones in car accidents for instance. His action was premeditated by bringing the knife with him. People like that should never be allowed to walk free on the streets again. It would at least have taught the lesson that revenge doesn't pay if he had to spend life in jail. Him walking away at the end is similar to the writer giving him a pass in my eyes. If he did the crime he should have done the time. Nothing excessive, but just walking away basically showed that you can be forgiven for that kind of thing. I'm not a practicing Christian or anything but murder is one of the things that you shouldn't get a pass on in my eyes, even if the victim forgives you.

Solid!

Quite enjoyed this movie! I figured it would be bad like most movies made from a video game concept, but I ended up very pleasantly surprised. Fassbinder does a great job. Amazing choreography across the board. Very cool special effects. All in all a great action movie. And it makes me want to go play some of the games again. I sure hope this one gets a sequel.

Conflicting morals
23 April 2014
Loved this episode. I found the readiness that people wanted sim to sacrifice himself in order to save trip was quite out of line though. They grow a fully sentient being just to harvest his brain ? A bit macabre, if you ask me, and not at all the kind of solution I'd hope that Archer would come up with. While I really enjoyed it, I felt like enterprise really compromised their morals on this one. I hope in our future we don't start growing sentient clones just to harvest their organs, because it's just wrong. If you can grow a specific organ in a test tube, great, but murdering somebody for their organs ? Disgusting. It was also strange to see T'Pal get involved with a clone who would only be around for a few days.

You have to take this movie for what it is - pure action
27 February 2010
Basically Steven Seagal is the baddest person on the planet taking on 3 separate groups aligned to kill him and the woman he is protecting.

This is like a Mack Bolan book turned into a film. High body count, gore, Asian and Russian gangsters, a corrupt police force, with judo and 'street' fighting skills used heavily as in all Steven Seagal movies. I don't know about you but I never get tired of people getting bones snapped.

Don't look too deep into the plot because it's just a killer action flick. If you're looking for a fun action flick with cool characters and plenty of gunfire and broken limbs. Look no further. If you're looking for some kind of developed plot besides 'almost everybody dies' then you might want to look elsewhere. You should know by now what you are getting yourself into with Seagal's movies. If you like pure action - check it out.

Steven Seagal should be the next internet meme. He is much more meme worthy then that sellout Chuck Norris.

Who does Steven Seagal love ? Nobody. He killed them ALL.

High School 'Gang' Film
27 February 2010
I suppose if you like this kind of stylized violence high school gangster drama it would be a good movie, but that is not the qualities I look for in a Miike film.

To each his own, but I've always thought the high school gangster drama films from Japan ( there are many ) were kind of a joke. If you like them, I'm sure you would enjoy this movie. If you don't - AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I sure hope Miike can get some more interesting scripts in the future. Wading through so many B-movies can be tiring, but it is worth it when you come across a masterpiece. Of which Miike has many.
