Alone in the Dark (2005)
Uwe boll is the amasing reversoMAN!!!
Indulge me on this. House of the dead, the video game, mostly takes place in high-tech areas, located in bit obscure places, but with technology, and alone in the dark, also the video game, takes place in obscure low-tech areas, with very few tech exceptions. But the movies are exact opposites. Alone in the dark is mostly about high tech stuff, where labs are abundant and also A LOT of armed people, making this more crowded in the dark. House of the dead, is on an island with a weird voodoo type necromancer, who resurrects with the help of NO high tech facilities as is depicted in the games??? but with magic, i think? Also in the house movies, the characters are part of an secret agency, but not in the film. And the characters in alone are more freelance, and ALONE. How.... come.... this.... be??? The only explanations there is! Uwe Boll is reversoMAN!!! making exactly everything opposite of what they are. and the movies are,how to put it nicely? quality challenged.
no gung ho matrix, fore once an excellent wooden performance, and entertainment
Just seeing this movie, it made me more a believer then passion of the Christ ever did, this remark will probably make some people jump. Stepping away from those remarks such as, what a samy matrix performance, what a matrix gunfight, what a matrix sizzle and last but not forgotten, what a matrix dazzle. Keanu fits this part a a glove, he is egocentric, uses a lot of catchy lines and so forth, but that is exactly how the character is in the comics, and as a avid reader i am exceptionally pleased with the outcome of this movie. I liked the fact that evil and good was mostly universal, and the most powerful character, besides the gods and so forth themselves, is an practitioner of voodoo instead of a catholic priest. And that it is no scared of calling the devil and god less than pleasant names. It is nice for once to see a bit more of other religions, no matter how little, in religious movies, a much needed respite from the dominating Christian movies about good and evil. The effects are nice, although hell is to little a sequence, and the battles are entertaining. And lastly, remember that we all have a perfect version of whatever we read or see, transmuted into a movie, in our head, and these visions are NEVER the same as the movies, so be content, and one day you will See THE movie that is the closest realization of your imagination, so that you may die a happy person, wouldn't that be nice :)
Event Horizon (1997)
quite good, it borrows from other films, but remains firmly as "plain good"
It does not start of gently, and that's what makes it good. Paul Anderson has made other graphically good movies but this one tops them, and his choice of actors is also wise, for they do to the movie what the script cannot. It scares and it does it good, i am not easily scared, but this movie does the trick. nothing new, except improvements.
