Great movie to watch!, 19 August 2002

*** This review may contain spoilers ***

If you want to watch a movie with not very familar actors/actress in it, this would be it. Frank Oz is one of the orignators of the Muppets, directed this movie. You got Hal Scardino, Litefoot, Lindsay Crouse, Richard Jenkison, Risji Bhat and Steve Coogan. As the movie opens, a little boy named Omri (Hal Scardino) gets a cupboard for his birthday for one of his brothers, he has two of them. And he aslo gets a plastic indian for his best friend Patrick (Rishi Bhat). Without a key, Ormi tets keys until he finds one that does work and is given to him by his mother who told her dying grandmother that she wanted that key, when she had nothing to leave her. He reads a book called "Stuart Little" with his mom after putting the indian in the cupboard. (Spoiler Warning) The next morning he finds that his indian has come to left by closes it right before his father comes up to his room. (Spoiler Warning #2) He comes home from school and finds the indian is plastic again. (Spoiler Warning #3) He wakes up in the middle of the night and finds his indian is alive again, and speaks perfect english after meeting English settlers. His name is Little Bear (Litefoot). And Ormi does all this talking to Little Bear without waking up the rest of the members of his family in the house. The movie is rated PG for mild language, brief video images of violence and sexy dancing (and you may have thought that is is weird that Max Keeble's Big Move got rated PG for some bulling). This came out last year on dvd, and I never heard it coming out and being on dvd until this summer. 10/10

A great long movie, 18 August 2002

Elvis and Me is the story of Priscilla Beaulieu Preseley and her soon to be husband Elvis Presley. But before she meet the king, she was the step-daughter of an army captain, (her real father was killed in a plane crash, coming home to see Priscilla). The movie starts out in Austin Texas in 1959, when Priscilla (Susan Walters) gets the news from her kid sister (Kristin Holstrom) that they are moving. She tries to talk her mom (Linda Miller) and her step-father (Jon Cypher) to let her stay in Austin. The story moves to Germany, where Priscilla is home sick, until when one day, when the club she hanges out at, has an Elvis Presley look-a-like contest. Where she meets a man named Currie Grant (Greg Webb). He talks her parents into letting Priscilla meeting Elvis Presley (Dale Midkiff) at his house. Aslo, stayting at his house in Germany is his father Vernon Presley (Billy Green Bush) and his grandmother Minnie Mae Presley (Anne Haney). Remember Elvis Presley's mother Gladys died the year before. If you like this tv movie, you should try to read the book, written by the real Priscilla Beaulieu Presley. 10/10

Elvis Presley vs Kurt Russell great show, 17 August 2002

*** This review may contain spoilers ***

It Happened at the World's Fair makes me wonder, what happened at the world's fair? (Spoiler Warning) Why didn't movie get a title like I got kicked in the leg the world's fair by Kurt Russell, or I got shot at the world's fair. But It Happened at the World's Fair. (Spoiler Warning #2) Kurt Russell (who later played the king in a tv movie and did 3000 Miles to Graceland) appears a boy that kicks Mike Edwards (Elvis Presley) in the leg. As the movie opens, Mike Edwards and his co-pilot Danny (Gary Lockwood) find themselves owing 1,200 bucks because of Dany gamles away and finds himself in debt. And thier plane Bessie is taken away and the town's sheriff (Russell Thorson) orders Mike and Danny to come up with the money or in two weeks the plan will be sold. (Spoiler Warning #3) Mike and Danny travel to Seattle where they meet a young girl named Sue-lin (Vicy Tiu) an her uncle (Kam Tong), who is taking Sue-lin to the world's fair and when he has to work, Mike gets talked into taking Sue-lin to the World's Fair. (Spoiler Warning #4) Mike falls in love with a nurse (Joan O'Brien). Watch for Kurt Russell. 10/10

Jim Carrey stars in this very long movie, 15 August 2002

*** This review may contain spoilers ***

Let me warn, that if you have not watched this movie, and don't know how long the movie runs, you will not be in for about a 90 minute movie, but instead a 2:32 minute movie. Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas's star Jim Carrey is the star again. As the movie opens, Peter Appleton (Jim Carrey) is a movie writer, and his debut movie he wrote called "Sand Pirates of the Sahara" has opened. But trouble winds up and Peter breaks up with his girlfriend. (Spoiler Warning) He gets drunk. And winds up in a crash, on a bridgers and he and his car falls into the water, and then Peter loses his memory. He winds up on the beach waken up by a old man (James Whitmore) and a dog. He is brought to the town of Lawson. Where is mistaken for a lost army solider named Luke Trimble. (Spoiler Warning #2) The movie is named The Majestic after a movie theater of the same name. This is a not great movie but good movie. Worth a look, but worth the money to buy, I don't know. 8/10

Great show!, 14 August 2002

I disagree with Nicholas Kirby (nickb6884). I watched this show this morning, and reccomend this anybody who is sick and tired of watching the news and waiting for the sports to come up (once each half hour or hour). If the news runs an hour, half hour, 35 minutes or more than an hour. Because on this show it is all sports talk and stuff releted to sports. And you can catch sports updates before or afterb a break and then another break. Tom Arnold, Lisa Coles, D'Marco Farr, Deacon Jones, John Kruk, Chris Rose and John Salley appear on the show whether on stage or not, Lisa Guerrerro is the reporter/newsreader, Leeann Tweeden is the correspondent. These people chat with guest, either in the studio or somewhere else in the country. The show is done in Los Angles. I don't understand why Nicholas bothered to review this show. If you enjoyed this show, I reccomend you watch aslo Instant Reply (if the show is run in your area). This show runs 2 hours during weekdays and 1 hour hour early Sunday and Monday Mornings. I have not seen Nicholas Kirby's reccomention (Pardon the Interruption) but sounds like to me that it runs on ESPN and ESPN-2. Oh, and Nicholas Kirby (nickb6884), get yourself a hobby. 10/10

A really great movie for Elmo and Sesame Street fans!, 12 August 2002

*** This review may contain spoilers ***

If you have an Elmo fan in your house, and was disappointed to only see him one scene (not speaking) role in 1985's movie Sesame Street Presents: Follow That Bird, well your little one will not be disappointed. The first movie with the Sesame Street friends for the first time in 14 years. Long time isn't it. As the movie opens, Elmo (Kevin Clash) and his freind Zoe (Fran Brill) has a tug of war on Elmo's blanket ripping, Elmo gets mad at Zoe, and then it winds up in Oscar's (Caroll Spinney) trash can, Elmo jumps into the trash can, and he and his blanked wind up in Grouchland. (Spoiler Warning) And the movie's villian (Mandy Patinkin) steals Elmo's blanket. (Spoiler Warning #2) Every so often, Bert (Frank Oz) yells "Stop the Film". (Spoiler Warning #3) When Elmo's Sesame Street pals learn that Elmo has jumped into Oscar's trash can, some of them, Big Bird, etc jumped in after him. (Spoiler Warning #4) While Elmo makes his way up a mountain to the villian's house. If you ever wondered what does goes on inside Oscar's can, this the movie for you to see. Vanessa L. Williams appears as the Queen of Trash. Note like the earlier Sesame Street movie this is a rare live movie to get a G rating from the MPAA. And if parents don't want thier kids to hear bad language, this is a must watch along with the first movie. So what are you waiting for, rent or buy this movie today, you will be glad you did. Parents will be happy not have to view a movie with kids, but may want to. What would have made this even better if Bert didn't yell "Stop the Film". 10/10

A great tv series!, 12 August 2002

Mister Roger's Neighborhood ran from 1966-2001, and was done 900 shows. So WTTW may get the change to run ever show of this once a year? How many shows done in a year I do not know. But not only Fred Rogers played himself he did the voices of King Friday XIII, Queen Sara Saturday, Edgar Cooke, X the Owl, Henrietta Pussycat, Lady Elaine Fairchilde, Daniel Striped Tiger, Cornfalke S. Pecially, Grandpere, and Donkey Hodie. The other cast memembers include Chuck Aber, Betty Aberlin, Bill Barker, Marilyn Barnett (who helps get Mr. Rogers ins shape on the show in various shows), Don Brockett and Robert Trow. Both Don Brockett and Robert Trow both died of a heart attack and I don't about the other cast members, I do know that John Reardon is still alive, along with Mr. Rogers himself. Mr Rogers done weeks of show and has diffrent topics every week. Including Goes to School, to even help first time school goers know what kindergarten is like and first grade is like. Aslo ended in 2001, was Bozo with Sesame Street (1969 to ?) still going on. Parents this is a great show for your children until they get older enough to not watch Mr. Rogers anymore, may be between ages 7 to 9, I guess. 10/10

A great tv series!, 11 August 2002

Un-like Scooby-Doo The Flintstones began in 1960 and ran for only 6 seasons, and Scooby-Doo ran from 1969-1986 with various titles including Scooby-Doo Where Are You? and The Scooby and Scrappy Show. And looking at the cast list, the only actors that stayed on the series the whole run, is Alan Reed and Don Messick. And aslo the only actress that stayed the whole run too is Jean Vander Pyl. And looks like everbody else too stay the whole run. Alan Reed voices Fred Flintstone, and Jean Vander Pyl voices his wife Wilma Flintstone. And the people voiced Barney (Fred Flintstone's neighbor and best friend, even though sometimes they didn't get along) go from Mel Blanc to Daws Bulter. But Wilma and Barney's wife Betty Rubble. Except I think there is one show when for a reason, Barney and Betty moved in with Fred and Wilma, and Wilma and Betty was worried that Fred and BVarney was going to get into a fight, and they tried, but ends up with Wilma and Betty that end up getting into a fight. How about that for double talk! Fred works at the town's red pile (I don't how to spell it) and aslo did a series of jobs, but always ends up back it you know where. And Fred 's boss awalys has diffrent name but the only one name is in the cast list, and that is Mr. George Nate Slate. (check other reviews for the other names). This series currently runs on Cartoon Network. And who can forget the Flintstone's pet Dino? 10/10

Brian's Song (2001) (TV)

A great tv movie, 10 August 2002

I spent 18 years of my life, never having heard of Brian Piccolo until ABC remade the tv movie starring James Caan. Brain played football for the Chicago Bears starting in the middle of late 60's, and never did retire from the game, because he got cancer and then died from it. As the movie opens, Brain Piccolo (Sean Maher) is starting plkaying football for the Chicago Bears, and his picked roomate is another new football player named Gale Sayers (Mekhi Phifer) and at first they don't get along, may because they expected a player who is the same color, Brain Piccolo is white and Gale Sayers is black. I think Joy Piccolo (Paula Cale) is Brain's wife, I really can't remember becuase I saw the movie in the first half of 2002 on ABC Family. And if you saw this on either ABC (Wonderful World of Disney) or ABC Family or both and enjoyed it, you can know find this movie on video and dvd. Other cast memembers include, Ben Gazzara as George Halas, Shane Daly as Bill Philbert, Elise Neal as Linda Sayers, Janessa Crimi as Lori Piccolo and Patrick Salvagna as Young Brain. 10/10
