Derby Girl (2020)
For all the sisters out there
A lightweight pro-feminist comedy about friendship, relationships, sisterhood, sport, and of course patriarchy. And surprisingly well done for a male director ;)
Nevenka (2021)
A story that covers us all
The documentary about entitled, selfish men who were used to power and domination, and a young woman who stood up to face them. I was especially appaled by the prosecutor story. What's even worse, such people will never admit their wrongdoings, that's how entitled they are.
A Girl Is a Gun (2017)
Short and powerful
I really don't know why this series has such a low rating. It has only 7 episodes of 10-14 minutes each so you can watch it to the end during one evening and at the same time, it brings up a very serious topic of women's position in this world. There is no woman on Earth who managed to avoid some sorts of discrimination, humiliation, violence and abuse on the basis of sex. And we need to talk about this openly in order to change this to the better.
Asking for It (2020)
Short and fun
I really enjoyed this movie! A pretty short and light-hearted comedy bringing several contemporary female problems at the same time. The main actresses and the script were amazing, never failing to keep attention on the film.
Sold (2014)
Heartbreaking
This film tore my heart to pieces. The horrifying reality of trafficking, the business that is hard to stop because of enormous profits and governments involved, male violence, subordination of women, treating women as some disposable objects... I really don't believe fathers in Nepal or Afghanistan or wherever else are unaware where their daughers go after they took money for them... They just don't give an eff. And that's the most enraging thing for me, such people do nor have the right to reproduce.
Cut-Out Girls (2018)
Enraging
The movie addresses gender-based violence which is so prevalent in all the societies, not only those considered developing. There is no woman in the world who doesn't have anything personal to add to the story, be it minor or major, and it is both startling and enraging.
