Disappointed in story but not acting
I won't give away the story most of the reviewers have told you the basic storyline. However, my spoiler is revolving around Bok-ku (Rain's character) and Da-jung (Sa-rang Kim) the reviewers are right this story is about Bokku wanting to get revenge on actress Cha Eun-suk for his brother's tragedy.
However, as the story progressed I grew to dislike Bok-ku more and more. He moved between Da-jung who he claimed to love and his obsessed love of Cha Eun-suk. Da-Jung had been in a fire and I am not sure who saved who but she fell in love with Bok-ku. Throughout the story he continues to lead her on a path that suggests the two will be together that he will not be like his brother overwhelmed by Cha Eun-suk. There is nothing to hate about Cha Eun-suk her character isn't evil in any real way she just throws love around very easily. First with Bok-ku's brother (who she doesn't know why he disappeared on her) then suddenly to Bok-ku and when he asks about her previously love she answers it's been so long she can't remember.
All the while Da-Jung has done the unspeakable for Bok-ku by using the photos they discovered of the real live relationship of his brother and Cha Eun-suk to blackmail the actress to pay for his brother's hospital care.
I understand a lot of Asian movies, dramas, etc don't like to have neat clean happy endings but this one was just wrong.
Da-Jung I felt sorry for although a close friend of theirs Mi-Suk is in love with her she never leads him on she tells him upfront she wants Bok-ku and no other. In the end she gives up to Cha Eun-suk because she knows Bok-ku will never look at her as anything he promised to. That part made me cry. After the two had gone out together and he called her his Da-Jung and how she was perfect for him and they together to be betrayed was just the wrong way to go with the story.
I am writing this only because it truly bothered me. I know it's melodrama but geez have a bit of sympathy for the girl who has saw you through some of the worst times instead of rushing off with the same obsession your brother had.
Short review with minor spoiler
I actually liked this movie. I haven't cared for Tom Cruise's work for a long time too much smiling instead of real acting. This time he has some grit to this role. At his age he is still in fantastic shape and the character Ethan Hunt spends a bit at the first of the movie silent and his acting was really good at that with face, body and hand gestures. Simon Pegg to me is always great. But Ving Rhames as Luther was missing it would have been great for the two Ving and Simon to play off each other.
So, not much to say but I enjoyed it and will definitely pick it up on DVD/BRay.
Spoilers Dark Side of the Moon Transformers
I would have given this 10 out of 10 for the sheer visual effects, Shia playing Sam is always fun, John T. as Simmons and Sam's parent's all good fun. What I disliked was the replacement of Megan Fox with this Rose Huntington Whitley as I feared she was their replacement for Fox with someone hot but her acting stunk to high heaven. Megan Fox is no Oscar caliber actress but she and Shia were perfect as Sam & Mackala(sorry about the spelling). After two movies and her profound love for Sam to have it simply be that she dumped him was a pitiful joke. The actors from previous Transformers were good, Optimus and his gang were excellent and I felt sadness for them. This movie was good because of the special effects what they can do with the auto bots and decepticons is truly amazing. Sam was still a little goofy his parents hilarious. Patrick Dempsey and Rose Huntington Whitley's characters were too close for comfort I was with Sam on that one. Photos of them together looked like a couple not employee and employer. Carly played by RHW was just not likable at all pure eye candy for the guys. I know many will hate me for saying this but Shia & Megan had much better chemistry, the natural humor and seriousness of the situations it was missing here because RHW just stunk.
The powers that be made a major mistake by not getting Megan back she'd been with Shia through the beginning and understood the gravity of the situation. RHW just kind of screamed and pouted.
I will see the movie again simply for Sam, his parents, the nest team, Simmons and the auto bots but they could cut out all the RHW scenes and the film would be perfectly fine nothing missing at all.
All I can hope for is that if there is a sequel and after this one I think that is a huge if not a definite probably not. If they do they need to get on their hands and knees and beg Megan Fox back like I said she is not a Queen bee actress but the role was hers and it worked. As they say if it ain't broke don't fix it.
