Camera Trap (2014)
Better than average found footage film
This was a pleasant surprise. I have watched almost all of the horror movies with a rating of 4 or higher. There are so many turds out there. This is not one of them. The cinematography and location were very good. The acting was well above average as well. But most importantly the characters were believable. It had scenes that reminded me of Alien. Not much gore but a lot of tension... my type of movie. Apparently i have to have 10 lines of text so the rest of the review is optional. If you like movies where the characters are competent (like the Descent or maybe Aliens) you might enjoy this movie. One of my biggest gripes with most horror movies is that they make the people complete idiots. I find it annoying and end up wanting them to die or not caring. I greatly prefer movies like this one were the people are just trying to do their job and be good at it.
South Park: Going Native (2012)
another bad episode
This is another episode that had such good potential and it just fell flat on its face. Season 16 and 15 episodes have shown some pretty larges changes in style. Mainly, the shift to praising the Hollywood elite from bashing them (which they deserve). in this episode they praise Ben Aflack for being a good director, being good looking and being lucky enough to be married to Jeniffer Lopez. This is in direct conflict to previous episodes. It looks like Matt and Trey are selling out on their convictions and trying to play nice to the people they used to hate (and with good reason).
Oh well, if you watch this, prepare to be disappointed.
The Facility (2012)
Better than expected
In summary, the acting was solid, the story was solid, and there was a lot of tension throughout. I am really surprised by the low rating for this movie. It is not a cheesy gore fest like a lot of movies out there. It uses the unknown and unseen which is often much more frightening. There are a lot of scenes where can only hear what is happening but that creates even more tension. You are along for the ride like the characters in the movie. They don't always see what is happening and you are left to wonder about the horrors of the unknown. Most of the characters are likable and you can feel sympathy for their plight. They don't fight and bicker constantly but spend most of their time trying to figure things out and survive. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and think anyone who prefers good writing to gore will also enjoy it.
This movie is not for everyone
If you, like me, don't like movies where the characters make every stupid decision you can think of... this movie is not for you.
The drama is built on the young girls extremely stupid and completely unrealistic decision.
If you want to watch a great thriller about women in a cabin in the woods, watch the Descent.
The acting in the movie is actually pretty good. The same for the dialog. It's just that all of their problems could have easily been avoided with just the slightest use of common sense. Instead of tense moments, they are frustrating.
The Magdalene Sisters (2002)
*UCK the church and &UCK GOD!
*UCK THE CHURCH!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel that to my very core. I don't need this movie to tell me that the church of todays is a corrupt and fowl as the church Jesus gave his life to destroy. He hated the church for it's corruption and todays church sh!ts on his name with the corruption it shows from top to bottom. From raping children and covering it up to the brutal slavery they practiced in the sweats shops they ran in the name of GOD.
And that is putting as nicely as i possibly can.
Anyone so blind they cannot see the corruption of the church is blinded by their fear of hell.
Preachy pro Mexican movie.
Basically everyone is evil and corrupt except the Mexicans, who are loving and kind to the unlovable corrupt and evil other races. If you are Hispanic this movie is for you. The movie plays on just about every stereotype you can imagine -- except when it comes to Mexicans. I would prefer a more balanced movie, for no race is above corruption and evil. The stereotypes are so obvious it will make enjoying the message of the movie difficult.
The cinematography looks more like a soap opera than a feature film. The first half of the movie is interesting. The characters are likable and believable so the movie holds your interest. As the movie enters the second half you can start to piece things together yourself before they happen. Basically everyone, even the most well intentioned are evil and corrupt. Again, not the Mexicans, who are above all wrong. Liberal preachy film basically.
The Matrix Reloaded (2003)
Plot was never the strong point in the first and it doesn't exist in the second
That's what we are supposed to do. OK, I had a really hard time swallowing the fact that people were being used as batteries....as though we produced energy.... Only problem with that, is we consume energy. Couldn't they have said they were forcing portions of our brain to do their computing and freeing us from the Matrix would allow us to be free...nope.
The Agent also pointed out that making life suck was not the goal of the Matrix. They lost entires fields of humans when they tried to make the world of the Matrix a nice place to live. Why again are we trying to defeat the Matrix??? The Matrix is like a huge daycare offering free food and living space. And really, would you rather live in Zion and eat....well nothing I guess. Zion was so crowded there is no daylight to grow vegitation, no animals...
I guess what I am getting at is simply.. There is no reason for this movie to exist other than to have a hell of a lot of cool fight scenes. If you want a good action movie with an interesting story play Max Payne. Better character development too.
