thinnest punch lines ever
I must admit some of the jokes they make are funny and some I do not get. But most of them are just boring or badly executed. Most of the jokes are about snobs. I do not like snobs. They make me angry. So I always hope that something funny or bad will happen do the snobs they depict. But most of the time neither does happen. The jokes just stagnate or wear off to nowhere. And if they really do have a punch line, it is mostly a thin one or just not funny.
It could be fun. If the sketches would be better executed and if the writers had a little more imagination and a feeling for what line would actually punch.
Just a Trash movie with too big a budget.
I got motion sickness because of the constantly moving and always zooming camera that seldom got the focus right.
So maybe that's why I even found the widely acclaimed special effects of explosions, little and big monsters cheesy and cheap. But with such a badly focused camera who could tell?
There are some good things in this flick:
First, the sound effects are really great some times and second:
Most of the main characters die! I really was happy and relieved when the guy with the camera died. But however the camera survived and the sickness went on, but luckily only for a few pathetic moments, just to hear the two other characters die while saying: "Look at me! Look at me! I love you! Uarghffff!"
The acting was decent, but I never got attached to the characters. So it was not that bad. It is fairly fast paced, so I seldom got bored (but I got annoyed towards the end).
85 minutes are enough for a sickening motion picture with little to no story and lots of illogical elements. It leaves quite everything related to the monster unexplained.
But then "King Kong" (1933) and "The Lost World" (1925) really are masterpieces and "Cloverfield" (2008) is just a Trash movie with a too big budget.
