The pilot of a spaceship is about to die on an "unknown shore"
3 March 2007
This lovely short film is really quite complete in itself but it is very nice to find it belongs with an entire series of films made and yet to be made. The plot is simple and cohesive about the memory of love. The pilot of a spaceship is about to die on on "unknown shore" of the outer reaches of space and relives a beautiful earthly day of love. The piece is transcendent on many personal and even religious levels and gives the audience 'space' to also revisit love and its meanings and what our human existence contains within our own space-pods as we navigate this life on earth and within. The avant garde/heavy tone is even with the music which reminds us that love can swing in tempestuous arches like a pendulum but will remain steady till death. I loved the colors of the film and some of the dazzling moments on the beach were dreamlike. Especially the butterfly.
