Iron Man 2 (2010)
A sequel worth watching, but lacks the fun of the first film.
Iron Man returns, and after the success of the much-loved first film,he meets old friends and new friends (too many).
Here are some pros and cons you should consider before watching the film.
PROS: The acting is great. Not only a superb performance by Robert Downey Jr., but Mickey Rourke and Scarlett Johansson steal the show. Don Cheadle is much better then Terrence Howard, and Gwyneth Paltrow gives a much improved outing then her weak performance in the first film.
There are some funny moments. Comedy is a strong point in the film, and the screenwriters did very well with it.
The CGI and other visual effects are even better then the first. Epic sequences such as the race track battle and the final battle are amazing and kept me on the edge of my seat.
Impressive direction, cinematography, and music are some key elements in this film. Besides, I love Stan Lee's cameo!!! CONS: The entire middle of the film is extremely dull. Barely anything happens, and not even a surprise appearance by Samuel L. Jackson could boost it up. Some of this is redeemed by the action-packed climax, but it's probably the film's weakest point.
Way too many characters! I could do without certain characters, which would make the film a little less confusing.
Black Widow is so underplayed in the film. She is very useless, and could have done a lot more with a lot more screen-time.
The script could have been better. Some unnecessary dialog make it uneven.
Overall, if you're a comic-book fan and have seen the first one, see it. If you're not, rent it. But remember, it doesn't come close to the first one.
Quantum of Solace (2008)
Shaken, but not stirred.
The latest 007 adventure stars Daniel Craig in his second appearance as the secret agent. But the question is: is it worth watching?
After the events of Casino Royale, James Bond seeks revenge for the a loved one's death by tracking down the mysterious organization, QUANTUM. He finds ally Camille (Olga Kurylenko) and enemy Dominic Greene (Mathieu Almaric).
Daniel Craig once again proves himself worthy of the role, but lacks the style and effort that past actors Sean Connery, Roger Moore, and Pierce Brosnan. He plays more of a dark character driven by revenge, and puts on a realistic and human Bond, one that Ian Fleming might have enjoyed. His dark 007 reminds us of Timothy Dalton at times.
Olga Kurylenko is an acceptable "Bond girl". Eva Green is a tough act to follow, but Olga proves she's worthy, too. She fights baddies, loves James, and is good-looking. However, she, like other girls such as Denise Richards and Lois Chiles, fails to put in the aspects of a leading lady and definitely does not surpass leading ladies Barbara Bach, Eva Green, and Diana Rigg (who can?).
Mathieu Almaric is satisfactory as a sinister mastermind bent on destroying the world's water supply. He may be more of a coward than an enemy ready to fight, but you should see the way he handles an axe in his fight with Bond!
The musician David Arnold returns with a great musical score that will give you chills and thrills. Still, none can surpass Casino Royale's great music.
Jack White and Alicia Keys sing the new theme song, "Another Way to Die", the first duet in a Bond movie. Many fans think this is the worst Bond song in the history of the franchise. I disagree. Some parts sound like the duo became lazy and created random tunes, but many parts are catchy and stay in your head, especially the themes on the piano.
The action sequences are very well done. But there is almost too much action! A car chase, foot chase in Siena, Italy, boat chase, plane chase, and a battle in an enflamed hotel room provide many thrills, but it really focuses on these scenes, not the story.
The movie is also very dark. None of the classic lines "Bond. James Bond." or "Shaken, not stirred." are heard. Gone are all the funny one-liners Connery and Moore possessed. In its place is a serious revenge story. Marc Forster nearly sucks all the fun out of 007!
Overall, Quantum of Solace is a worthy Bond film. Though the story lacks many things, it will give you thrilling feelings. However, I prefer Casino Royale. If you're looking for a real James Bond movie with everything 007 must be, I recommend:
1.) Goldfinger 2.) From Russia With Love 3.) On Her Majestys' Secret Service 4.) Casino Royale 5.) The Spy Who Loved Me 6.) Dr. No 7.)GoldenEye 8.) Thunderball
The next four may be a little serious, but are worth the ride.
9.) Licence to Kill 10.) The Living Daylights 11.) For Your Eyes Only 12.) Octopussy
Anyway, you can take your chances with Quantum of Solace.
Spider-Man 2 (2004)
An action packed, thrilling adventure!
I would recommend this to any Spiderman or comic book fan. This film has a lot of action and can also make you laugh in some parts.
It improved everything that was used in the first movie. Great to put Doctor Octopus (Doc Ock for fans) in the film. Excellent for Alfred Molina to play him.
The end is most exciting, when Harry Osborn finds out his father is the Green Goblin and becomes GG Jr. Lots of twists, turns, and excitement. Visual effects are excellent. (Well that's why it won an Oscar for it) Better then the first and third.
That means see it.
Possibly the best Star Wars yet!
In 1977, I was looking into the movie theater for something to watch. I found the only thing that was playing, Star Wars. But it was sci-fi, and I wasn't a big fan of sci-fi. But my mom said it got great reviews, so I saw it and I was amazed! AMAZED!
I became a huge fan. Then in 1980, The Empire Strikes Back came out and of course, it was the greatest movie in the world! Darth Vader became my favorite character. Then in 1983, I saw Return of the Jedi on it's first day. I liked it better then the first, but not better then Empire.
In 1999, I went to see the Phantom Menace. COME ON, LUCAS! WHAT'S GOTTEN INTO YOU! AH! I think you know what I mean. Then, I saw Episode 2 in 2002. Of course it was better then Phantom with its action, but is so romantic, not part of Star Wars.
Finally, in 2005, I was losing faith in Star Wars. But I had to see how Anakin became Vader(still my favorite). I saw it, and what can I say? LUCAS HAS BEEN REDEEMED!!!!
This is my favorite Star Wars film of all time! It explains that Palpatine is Sidious, how the Separists are killed, and of course the birth of Vader.
Here's the list of my favorite Star Wars films.
1.Revenge of the Sith 2.Empire Strikes Back 3.Return of the Jedi 4.Attack of the Clones 5.A New Hope 6.Phantom Menace
SEE THIS FILM!
When I saw Daredevil, I was thinking "Oh come on!" Lot of action and good story but a lot of things were wrong, like putting two villains in the first film....usually only one villain is used in the first film.
Then the director's cut came out and everything changed! Why everything we know about the blind superhero came alive in the version. Fans of Daredevil, see the director's cut version. It has scenes that you have never seen before and more action then the first movie.
Ben Affleck,Jenni Garner,Collin Farrel, and Michael Clarke Duncan are the perfect whup @$$ people and have fun watching the director's cut. I'm serious. See it. NOW!
Superman Returns (2006)
Superman flies high!
*Now, for those who have seen Superman 3 and 4, let's pretend they didn't exist, just like Bryan Singer did.
This film is great. It satisfied me. But it didn't satisfy me more then the original Supermans 1 and 2. Byan Singer quit X-men to do Superman. He did a great job! He just had a few problems in it. Let me explain....
Lois Lane has a son that suddenly possesses powers of Superman, which I didn't understand. Lex Luthor has a plot by using crystals to build a new land. And the story had a lot of slow scenes in it. Kevin Spacey is one of my favorite actors and is perfect to play Lex Luthor. I think he was better then Gene Hackman. He could even play the young Proffeser X in the Magneto movie.(2009) I would recommend this to any Superman fan. But I can't say it's one of my favorite movies. Iliked Superman 2 better.
Not better then the first, but still enjoyable.
Now, this film was good. It lead to "At World's End" perfectly. But some problems make it compared to "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom".
The reason I'm comparing these two films is because they were both alike. They were SO not better then the first, they were plot heavy, and they didn't use much of our favorite characters Indiana Jones and Captain Jack Sparrow.
I loved the first movie of Pirates. The story, characters, music, and the special effects really convinced me. In Dead Man's Chest, the visual effects were superior to it's successor, but it used so much of it and CGI that there's no room for Captain Jack! Like the first one, it is plot-heavy and unfortunately the story was "To Be Continued" when Jack was eaten, Beckett got the heart and Barbossa surprisingly returned.
Not a lot of heart, but still one of my favorite films.
Batman & Robin (1997)
To the director of the film: What have you done to Batman???
Now some of you people may think the worst comic film is the Hulk or Superman 4 or something. Trust me. This is worse.
Have you noticed that each Batman film got weaker and weaker until it all broke out? I have. "Batman" was great! "Batman Returns" and "Batman Forever" barely had any Tim Burton style. Then this, this is possibly the worst movie I have ever seen!!! Arnold S. is a great Mr. Freeze and Uma Thurman is a sexy Poison Ivy, but the film's action is overrated. The film is nothing like the comic. For example: Since when is Barbara Gordon (Wilson in the film) Alfred's daughter? I don't blame George Clooney for quiting the bat business.
And of course, "Batman Begins" changes everything. Best comic film I've seen ever! But don't get confused with this. If you haven't seen this horrible film by the name of "Batman and Robin", don't waste your money. Stick to Superman.
Star Wars (1977)
No wonder it changed the world!!!!!
Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Obi-Wan Kenobi, C-3PO, R2-D2,Chewbacca, Grand Moff Tarkin and more.....no wonder I love this movie! This masterpiece started the Star Wars saga! Now you might wonder, for those who haven't seen this, why so many people like Star Wars. Well see this and you'll find your answer.
Awesome special effects, like when the Death Star explodes, lightsaber battles, like when Darth kills Obi, and great story.
Of course it would'nt be any thing without John Willaims score, AMAZING score.
STAR WARS took our imagination beyond imagination. If you didn't seen it, go eat bantha folder, you nerf-herder! (Words used in Star Wars)
GO SEE STAR WARS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
