Gory, humorous at times, and simply a classic...
First off, I'd like to say that it's just awesome that Saxon, Pretty Maids, Motley Crue, and Accept were all featured on the soundtrack. The movie has this 1980's B-rate horror movie cheese that just makes you love it. While a lot of horror movies at the time were very slow-moving, this was pretty fast-paced, maintaining your absolute attention while still being full of laughs at the bad voice-overs of the cast, especially the black pimp. There is just something about this movie, it's spirit, it's vibe that I can't quite put into words, but it stands out and just has such character to it, a gory charm. Nothing I've yet seen can quite compare to it, not even it's sequel. It was one of the very first movies I'd purchased and to this day, I have never grown sick of it. The effects aren't quite that great, but good enough. If were I to recommend this movie for anybody, it would be for metal-head horror fans, nostalgic of those times when horror and metal ruled the decade that was the 1980's.
