definitely worth watching
this was very entertaining, smith is a great actor, and you would expect no less of him to be good. the other cast members were reasonably good at portraying the craft as well.
Script was OK, it certainly wasn't slick or factually consistent, but it really didn't need to be, it was pure entertainment, and it achieved that.
Margot Robbie..... my god, what a beauty. Im sure others actresses could have pulled this off, but having seen her in it, i don't believe they would have done it justice, she was brilliant... believable (and I don't believe Australia's who learn to act in AU can act) so she must be from new zealand, or even tasmania maybe, because she can act.... and she is smoking hot.... cant wait for her to do more films, she is a real A lister now..... great work, bring more on.... I might even get the old seasons of Neighbours!
Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
This is a great film.... Must see
I love tom cruise, i know a lot don't for numerous reasons, and he is laughed at and joked about for various reasons, none of which matter when it comes down to one thing, he makes amazing films....
This one doesn't fail to match his stellar performances to date. I was on the edge pf my seat a few times, it is seriously gripping story, and although as an afterthought the story may have a few holes in it, while watching you don't have time to notice.
Cruise is, as always, brilliant. Emily blunt, is good in this too. The only complaint id have is that it did drag a little early on with the repetitiveness of the early reliving each day, but it was evidently necissary.
This is a must watch...
As entertainment, brilliant....
I went to see this having read a few reviews, I also heard a review from a friend that Richard Wilkins on Australian critic had said it wasn't that good.
Well, I have no idea what film they saw, but it wasn't the one I saw. The start was a little slow, but still threw in some moments of concern to keep one on the edge. As the film settled on, it kept moving at a good pace. Story was a basic love story, mixed in with morality, but basically, love story.
Cgi was amazing, cinematography was brilliant, stunning even. All the main characters were easy on the eye too, always making it easier to want to watch.
Plot wasn't sophisticated, probably described as feel good, but frankly, it was perfect. I left a 2 hour film and wasn't bored for a second.
Cruise, for all the press on him and his supposed kookiness, I don't care, he carried the film.....
GO SEE THIS, pure entertainment.
Hit and Run (2012)
Nothing new, but I liked it....
What a cast, story was pretty good, I liked Kirsten in this, she is easy to look at, and seemed very comfortable in the role. I've not seen dad in any roles that I can quote, but he can act, and evidently write too....
It started a little slow, bit once it picked up pace, it didn't want to fast forward, which I've done with a lot of films of late.
Tom Arnold certainly didn't do the film any harm, the jokes were not amazing, and probably predictable lost of the time, but god he delivered them perfectly...... Perfectly. I'm not sure anyone else could have played the part..... In the trailers dad says all the parts were written for friends, so I'd say I'm on the money.
Do yourself a favour, see this, expect nothing from it, and you will be pleasantly surprised.
P.S. there is a scene with dad and cooper, in the middle of the film, that is pretty funny.... Worth watching this just for that few scenes.
Safe Haven (2013)
good entertainment, but certainly a chick flick
I took my girlfriend to see this, mostly as she cant miss a love story film.... she wasn't disappointed with this. She loved every minute of it. As a male, I thought it was a bit wet, but still enjoyed it. Hough was an easy actress to watch, not only pretty, but accomplished at her art. This was seemingly written for her girlish look and persona. The scenery and cinematography were nothing short of amazing... Locations were perfect, id live there in a heartbeat.... Duhamal was frankly excellent in this role too, he played his part perfectly, and was the perfect choice for this film.
The script was given a twist, and I sat through most of the film not quiet sure what was going to happen next, it definitely kept me intrigued, although I found it a little slow at a few points, i still walked away liking the film as a whole.
Definitely worth going to see, certainly on the big screen, as the locations were amazing....
Resident Evil: Retribution (2012)
Crapola.... Of the highest order...... Wait for it on TV, then watch the news!
I love the series, all have been entertaining and worth watching, even twice for some of them when repeated on TV, but this has no story, poor script and the acting is rank amateurish. What were the producers thinking, other than fleece the public one last time.
I hope this review saves a few people from wasting there money....
Don't see this, it's a sort of film of a video game, and not very well done even for that....
Don't waste your time on this. Cgi I've read was amazing, I didn't think so, and the gun play and fight scenes seemed illogical and stupid. The enemies fired relentlessly and missed, but the good guys fire a few times and kill dozens?
The Cold Light of Day (2012)
Amateur and frankly rubbish..... Don't bother....
Plot, ridiculous and frankly, so full of holes that a 10 year old writes better stories at school.
I really love everything Bruce willis is In, but how he ended up in this is both regrettable, and astounding. To date, I don't think I've ever seen a bad willis film..... And he really doesn't need the only, so please someone explain WHY....
And what the hell was sigorney weaver doing in it?
I know there are always varying opinions on everything, but nobody could say this was good..... Don't see it..... It may encourage these producers to do another, which would be a crime.
Brilliant, Willis can't do wrong by me !
I loved this, the story started with a punch, and kept me enthralled led till the very end. I admit early, I love Willis, I don't think he has made a bad film in years, and if he has made any, I can't recall it. He is again brilliant in this. The action scenes are amazingly executed for a man his age.
Blunt, well, beautiful, and what an actress, she is completely convincing, and likable to boot. The little boy, well, what an actor, he was perfect, if told what his role would involve prior to seeing this, I'd not have believed someone so young could have been so convincing in this role.
If your thinking its another time travel story, it isn't really, it's got a twist on the whole thing, and I'd even maybe go as far to say the time travel is fairly minor in the scheme of things.
It's a long film, luckily we saw it in gold class, so it was comfortable, In a standard cinema seat, I might have gotten a bit fidgety as it is long, but I didn't notice the length at all, it was gripping the whole way.
It does rate high on gory violence, nothing to bad, but definitely not kids film.
Go see this, it's well worth the money. I think it's worth seeing on the big screen too, the cinematography was amazing.
Any Questions for Ben? (2012)
See it, Entertaining, but not as good as would have liked....
What can I say, my girlfriend and I were keen to see this when it was first promoted, as the marketing was of course excellent. I should state for the record, Im not a fan of Australian Movies, the last one I saw was Red Dog, and I found it for the most part, boring and woefully over acted. Questions for Ben improves ever so slightly on the overacting, but only because a couple of the actors were surprisingly good. David James was BRILLIANT.... I've never noticed him before in previous showings, but he was believable, and played his part perfectly, excellent actor who deserves more work on this performance.
I was also pleasantly surprised by Rachel Taylors performance. I felt she was excellent and believable in her character, and didn't over Act, something I feel Australian actors are renowned for.I was pleasantly surprised by her abilities, I did like her in Red Dog , but I loved her performance in this, she seems to have learnt a lot between gigs and i cant help but wonder if her American experiences have assisted her in the improvement? I walked away thinking she carried the film, and although the script was a bit all over the place, when she was on the screen, she carried her scenes.
I couldn't stand the fast pace conversations/banter/one liners in the first part of the film, I felt it was a poor attempt at covering up bad acting or screenplay by the director. At one point, the cameras seemed to swap so often I was worried id get dizzy.
The Directors/Producers do deserve credit for the choice of locations and the use of the camera in the flyovers and general long shots made melbourne look stunning. Maybe they should be paid to do a Tourism Commercial for Melbourne!!!!! I really wanted this to be good, and expected it to be so, as it was a Working Dog project.... Id be lying if I didn't say it was disappointing, id have been furious if Id paid A$36 to see it at the cinema.
Like Crazy (2011)
This was a great film, it was well written, certainly not the typical Hollywood rom com by any stretch, but light and entertaining.
Id be lying if i said I didn't want Lawrence to have more time on screen, not only beautiful in a natural way, but she lights up the screen somehow, its almost sad that her character gets hurt in the way she does....
The lead actors are very well cast, both give excellent performances with what i thought was a well written script.
Cinematography was excellent, and I loved that they didn't live in huge London/New York Apartments, but in realistic small bare apartments that is more realistic and believable... As if 20 somethings can afford lofts! Great way to spend 100 minutes.... a definite must see....
A must see.... perfect for cold rainy Saturday or Sunday....
