The Bacon is sizzling!!!
1 September 2007
WOW!!! What a gritty, action packed, emotional roller coaster!!! Death sentence is the best film i've seen in a decade for it's genre. The revenge plot is pretty basic but Kevin Bacon's acting and the direction by Wan make this an unforgettable, gut wrenching story of loss and redemption. The film contains some intense fight scenes and surprisingly the action sequences are fresh and there are some unique death scenes. The soundtrack is very depressing and moody and helps set the tone of the film. Death Sentence had awesome action, great acting by the cast, and a grizzly, rough-edge feel. I liked it a lot and recommend to anyone who likes good action/thrillers. A must see for Bacon fans. I was blown away!

Homeboy (1988)

A truly haunting and underrated film!
30 May 2007
Homeboy is a haunting and outstanding drama. Micket Rourke turns in an amazing performance as Johnny Walker and Christopher Walken's role is memorable. The film's soundtrack is excellent. The plot revolves around Johnny Walker, a down and out, aged boxer who falls for a girl and has hopes of making it big. Johnny meets Walken's character who trys to get Walker into some bad things. The film is depressing and hopeful. It is very sad at parts but the film really is amazing. You must read under the surface of things. A must see for Rourke fans!!! The acting is excellent but I feel the film could have been better if there was more emphasis on things.

Gangland (2001)

Cyborg ripoff that isn't that bad!
28 April 2007
It is a total ripoff of cyborg. A deadly flesh eating virus is destroying mankind while ganglanders (in place of Cannibalistic Flesh Pirates from Cyborg) terrorize and run the streets. The scientist who can cure the disease gets kidnapped and forced to develop the serum for an evil gang leader named Lucifer (Vincent Klyn-Fender from Cyborg, Klyn is way cooler and badass in Cyborg then he is in this crapper). The main hero has emotional flashbacks of his family being killed.

It just felt like a total ripoff of Cyborg. which isn't all that bad because Cyborg is a rare martial arts classic.

Some of the highlights in the film are SASHA MITCHELL, who looks ripped and kicks some serious butt! Ice T and Coolio are in for only 5 minutes and it is fun to watch Vincent Klyn play a baddie again. Worth watching if you like Cyborg or low-budget martial arts.

The fight scenes are average. Except Mitchell still does some cool stuff.

Best Can Damme film in years!!!
19 April 2007
This is the greatest Van Damme movie i have seen in years. This is probably his best STV effort right next to In Hell. There is no classic Van Damme martial arts but the acting is insane! Def the best acting of his career. The last couple Van Damme movies sucked (SIC & Hard Corps.), so i had low expectations. But WOW...was i surprised at how well this movie was made compared to his recent crappy STV films. Seeing Van Damme play a totally different character was entertaining and reminded me of why i love Van Damme flicks so much. I lost faith in him after Wake of Death, but after watching this and having his next film be a martial arts packed film co-starring Scott Atkins (The Shepard) i have total faith in Van Damme once again. The acting is great, the plot is new for Van Damme, the action is better than expected (no martial arts though), and Van Damme looks awesome. The editing is great, the direction is good, and luckily the film does not feel cheesy or STV-like. Emotional film.

It is a must see for Van Damme fans. You will be surprised by it.

And it is a MILLION times better than anything Seagal has done STV.
