The Broken Road is unique because it deals honestly with personal faith in God in a contemporary setting. Other movies like Ben Hur for example do so but in an ancient context.
After watching the movie, I was very satisfied with the product. First time filmmaker Eric Filson delivers a solid, well-paced film that is sure to engage people's minds and emotions.
The movie focuses on a wayward, homeless young man who travels to Colorado to grieve the loss of his brother. On the way, he experiences several encounters with both helpful and sinister characters. The main character Miles Rodden (Jascha Updike) struggles with how God could allow both his parents and his brother to die.
The cinematography is well done if one considers the size of the budget for the film. The most important part of any film, the end, was done with a care that you usually only see in much more mature film makers. It leaves you with a sense of hope and a desire to find what Miles Rodden found after much struggle.
I recommend Eric Filson's film and am ready for further work from him and the rest of his movie making team.
