Some of these are really great films - others, not so much. But they're my favorites. Friendly comments and lively discussion are welcome.
There aren't a lot of comedies on my list, nor very many recent "action" flicks, but that's just me. I tend to favor classic movies over newer ones, and movies with great characters and interesting relationships over explosions and bombastic SPFX. I also especially appreciate great dialogue.
Here's looking at you, kid.
What makes a great train movie? Is it action on board a train? Memorable images of a train on the big screen? A show where the train itself becomes a character? All of the above, in my opinion. Some of these are set on trains, others just have a memorable scene or two involving a train, but I think all of them are worth watching. I hope you enjoy!
I'm not trying to glorify war with this list, but in many ways, war, with its intense moments and life-and-death struggles, does provide an opportunity to tell good stories, teach important lessons, and affirm the values of sacrifice and courage.
In some ways, this is a hard list to put together. Should it include movies that take place in wartime, or movies about the war itself? I ended up choosing movies that are primarily about combat and the choices people make. Here are 20 that I enjoy. As always, comment and discussion are welcome.
M*A*S*H is one of my all-time favorite shows, and here are my 10 favorite episodes, in their order of appearance. Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice - pull down your pants, and slide on the ice.
