not bad but...
far to be a bad series, it is package for a good idea. the result is not really impressive because, like many other series, it has as basic purpose the easy entertainment. so, the situations and the dialogs are not examples of inspiration. for Jerry Trainor is only new clothes for an old role.Buddy Handleson does a good job but the script is not always the best help for his character. the humor is in too many situations fake and the sin could be only to ignore the story possibilities. but it is only a series. nice, comfortable, junk food for leisure. and that fact is enough. in a way. because the comedy has its fans. always.
The Cider House Rules (1999)
more than a movie, it is a beautiful meeting between a good cast and a good novel. the Irving universe is, step by step, resurrected with admirable grace and the performances are really seductive. a film about choices and verdicts, with powerful flavor of South and with gentle demonstrations of clever solutions for transform a story in more than a beautiful one but, maybe, memorable. one of films who represents a must see for the delicate force of image, subject, acting. it is an useful tool for reflection about world and its rules. romance and drama in right proportions, it is source of special mark who reminds old things, who resurrect new emotions.
The Time Machine (2002)
the first verdict - it is far to be an adaptation of Wells novel. and that is not a surprise because after few good adaptations is not easy to present something new. but it could be only a detail and the freedom of creation of film team is out of doubt. but the result is so confuse than the message is lost at all. only virtue - maybe the images and the meeting with few real great actors - Phyllida Law is one of them. is it enough ? I do not know. because as adaptation or only a Sci. Fi who has the idea of novel as starting point are unrealistic. the film is only expression of director ambition. but he is fan of his version in high measure and that fact deserves a fake image. the message, the lesson as parable about humanity evolution are out of script. and Guy Pearce is the first victim of error.
a strange movie. for the story without roots or sense. for the desire to say profound things using, in not inspired manner, stereotypes. but the great sin is the cast. the waste of time of viewer is small front to presence of real good actors in a chaotic film. and that is the awful part because it represents the use of cheep solution for few crumbs of success. the idea could be not bad but the script is out of reason. the pieces from Bergman , the psychology as ingredient in huge dose, the talks without basic axis, the images in waves - skin without body are pillars of the film. and that is all. but, I hope, Rupert Graves or Andie Mc Dowell are too different by the characters universe.
Walk the Proud Land (1956)
it is its basic virtue. for theme and for its inspired manner to present as biopic. for acting and for the mixture of innocence, courage, force and beautiful images. for realism and for Audie Murphy performance. a film about the image and the essence of relationship and about a form of heroism who has not ordinaries rules. a classic western. and more because it is not an idyllic picture about Far West but body for a noble message who preserves the measure at high level. touching and convincing, it has a special note of melancholy and poetic message. a film. real good. a homage. like remember source about the respect for the other, out of ordinary tolerance.
it is far to be remarkable and far to be bad. it represents only an introduction, almost decent, to subject. not real convincing but interesting for cast. a tribute for Russia from Depardieu. and its basic unlucky is, maybe, the existence of few real good films about Rasputin, many books and documentaries. so, it could be only expression of good intentions. nothing more. and it is not enough. the bad detail is the absence of courage for director who ignores many opportunities to do an interesting story. than, the manner to create the image of hero by Depardieu who use, in comfortable way, the West clichés about subject. short, a lot pieces without links. images , a not inspired script about a delicate theme , about a dark hero who remains, in this case, unfortunately, only a shadow.

a good comedy. and little more
one of the best comedies of "90's. for the inspired use of clichés, for the fireworks of imaginations, for one of the most remarkable children actors of our time, for the delicacy of last part, for the powerful flavor of Christmas, family spirit, childhood. it is more than a movie but a kind of experience for its public . this status defines it with profound precision. because it is one of films who, after years, preserves, in perfect form, the image of a period, the traces of "80's , the social change of "90's, the manner to discover and understand the world, the courageous work to transform it. a comedy, of course. but not only one. maybe, useful support to remember an age. and its beautiful colors.

it is a watchmaker fine work. each piece in its perfect place. each word as the right ingredient. splendid acting and inspired atmosphere. Paul Newman remember the old golden period and Jude Law in a memorable character. a film about error and its price. cold, special, impressive for each detail who impose an unique manner to say the story. a film who must see not for cast, not for story but for the ash emotions ball after its end. a film about a human circle as drawing of each member sense. gangsters affairs and something more the flavor of a fight who seems be more than duty / revenge expression, fear or resistance mark but who reminds old well known truths.
the courage, the fine science, the lovely performance. pieces of one of the most touching roles of Tom Hanks. it can be the sketch for many of his late roles but the freshness, the delicate measure of innocence construction, the right note for each scene are interesting ingredients who defines Big. using the dream of each child, transform a kind of fairy tale in moral lesson without heavy or pink sparkles, it could be define as wise movie , charming and seductive, good job and great for the large slices of childhood spirit. a film who has rare gift to be more than entertainment without be real serious. precise exploration of nuances of characters, it is the film who remind an unique age geography.
South Park (1997)
a honest series. about each significant social problem, political detail, stereotypes, lies, fake truth, fears and taboos. cruel, vulgar, cold, strong, strange, hilarious, it has the gift to be perfect mirror for many of its viewers. that is the key of its success. not only the indelicate speech, not the uncomfortable notes, but the courage to ignore the masks, the use of innocence of children for say the right word about ordinaries sins. it is a phenomenon and that fact is the basic source of success. a series who, episode by episode, impose large borders to the TV show and could be a form of revolution in animation. the balance between strong words and the precise humor is the seed of charm in this case. and, sure the small characters who are just crumbs from us.
