Shaun the Sheep (2007)
The best show on TV
I only discovered Shaun the Sheep last week and have recorded and watched every episode since then-it is shown twice every day on BBC in back to back episodes. It is just the most wonderfully entertaining show. It is beautifully written, the acting (!) is excellent and the attention to detail and the sheer observation is beyond belief. There is so much going on in each scene that you really have to concentrate all the time or you miss something!. It is only show on TV at the moment (and I include terrestrial and satellite in that) which gives me so many laugh out loud moments. I don't know whether or not it appeals to children but it certainly appeals to me- and I am 65 years old!. I echo another comment and should love to see a full-length film, or at least a version extended more that it's usual 5 minutes. Brilliant!.
Beverly Hills Chihuahua (2008)
A real fun movie
Come on everybody, what's wrong with all of you out there!.Don't take things so seriously.I LOVED this film.It isn't supposed to be a video lesson in Mexican geography,it's supposed to be a fun, lighthearted movie.True,it's no Gone With the Wind but it does what it sets out to do.My usual type of movie is the vampire or zombie genre-you get the picture-but occasionally I like to take in a lightweight movie, such as this one;in fact, one of my all-time favourites is Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion.I have to admit to being a dog-lover,but some of the scenes were simply hilarious. The way that Chloe and Delgado were rescued in the mountain lion scene had me laughing out loud and applauding-it was so funny and unexpected. So,anyone going to see this movie, please ignore all of the negative comment you have read and just go with an open mind.I am sure you will enjoy it.The only slight downside is the performance of Piper Perabo,I just don't GET her, just the same as she was in Coyote Ugly.Still, she was OK in Imagine Me and You. Anyway, she probably doesn't GET me either, so that's OK.
Shi mian mai fu (2004)
A simple tale of the eternal triangle.
This film is basically a very simple tale based on the old eternal triangle set against an action background and should not in any way be judged as what I call a Hong Kong Action movie. What action sequences there are in it very much support the story rather than being the central theme of the film. If you watch the film on this basis and submerge yourself in it you will see one of the most beautifully shot films there has ever been-in my humble opinion. Any film which has actors of the undoubted calibre of Takeshi Kaneshiro and Andy Lau in it must be worthy of anyone's time and to have the ravishing Ziyi Zhang in it as well makes it a must see. In fact anything she appears in is a must see for me!. Zhang Yimou's Direction shows it's usual sure touch, although, if I have one small criticism, it is the Tea House dance scene which, although it shows Ms Zhang's classical Chinese ballet training to perfection, does go on for a little too long. Don't let that put you off, go and see this beautiful film
