Watching Up left me down...
I've finally got to watch Up, and from the beginning, I wasn't disappointed, but I was more or less saddened... I mean, I know every good story has to have a back-story, but this puts a man's whole life into ten minutes, and it's very, very sad. Cute, but sad. The man's wife (who, to add to the sadness, passed away) always wanted to take their house to Paradise Falls, a waterfall in South America. He does so, by equipping his house with thousands of balloons. During the journey, he meets an overly-hyperactive boy-scout-type kid, a bird that's definitely taller than I am, and a dog (with a collar that allows it to talk) who is the runt of the litter...
But what really made it click was the ending, after they lose the house to the villain, who plummets to their death. We find that the house was placed, perfectly, next to Paradise Falls, the way the wife would have wanted it... It deserves every award and accolade it's received, though I do not believe it's suitable to be called a children's movie. Animated, yes. Family, maybe. Children's movie, no.
The Princess and the Frog (2009)
Good, but due to the times, not great.
Just today, I have seen the movie The Princess and the Frog. Here's what I thought of it...
P.A.T.F. was a mildly charming movie, although little chick-flick-ish, and had a impressing storyline. What if the most magical kiss in the world... backfired? That's right, the main character, after kissing a frog (who is really a prince), turns into one herself. Now, the hard-working Tiana and the laid-back Prince Naveen (odd name...) must go on a magical journey- blah, blah, blah...
Good points for the movie: This was made using the same technique as most of Disney's classics. Cute characters (Except for one trumpet... playing... gator...) Interesting story And a great villain to tie it all together!
Bad points for the movie: Political correctness kind of ruined it... If it wasn't for it... It has a gator playing a trumpet. A TRUMPET!!! The main character's best friend is a blond-haired ditsy débutante... Need I say more about her?
Total score: 7/10. It was charming, but if it wasn't for the timing in which the movie was made, it'd be a classic. But, now, it's just another starry-eyed movie.
Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z (2006)
Sub was better than the other two...
O.k. Just to clear things up, I *HATE* the original PPG. With a purple passion. So, hearing that there was a remake, well, I was less than thrilled. But, I tried it out, and... (Gulp. Do I have to say it?) I liked it. I started to watch all the episodes, but in Japanese, with the English subtitles.
But, I watched the English dub, and it sounded like they took a vacuum to their heads, and SUCKED THEIR Intelligence OUT! Granted, sometimes, it was cute, but... COME ON! Anyways, I'll give the *JAPANESE SUBTITLED VERSION* an eight out of ten. It was funny at some points. I guess that some remakes are better than the original. Some, not all, though!
The Powerpuff Girls (1998)
Retarded doesn't even describe it.
I have watched this show for a while, only because of my cousins, and I HATE IT! First, the girls dress in the same style clothes, and they have the same first letter in their names. (Come on, I could to better than that!) Then the villains (spare me), first we have a monkey with part of his (little) brain showing, then we have a (gay) version of the devil, a pink hillbilly, a gang green gang (whit is ironic, that's their name) a spoiled princess (once again, ironic, that's 'her' name) among others. I have also found that there is no male hero in the show. (Not that I'm sexist or anything...) I'd rather watch Sailor Moon, it's much better than this. If someone else wants to watch the show in the room that you're in, find a way to break the television. Believe me, it'll save you a half hour of torture.
Rating: I'm giving this just what it deserves, a 1 out of 10. Whatever you do, DO NOT WATCH THIS!
It Takes a Thief (2005)
Dang, are they cutting it close!
This is a great show where ex-thieves go in and break in to people's houses (don't worry, the homeowners will know they'll be coming.) Then after the break-in, after all is said and done, the two ex-thieves then return the stolen loot and upgrade the house security wise.
This is why I put a spoiler alert on here: Out of all the episodes I have watched, there were two times that they almost got busted. Once, as the thief was leaving out the front, the homeowners came home, and he went out the back. And a second time was when he had stole a car, and then he drove RIGHT BY THE HOMEOWNERS IN PLAIN VIEW! The guy really can keep you on your feet, I'll tell you that!
