Wicked Game (2002)
What do you get when most of a cast for a movie is Mighty Morphin Power Ranger actors, stunt guys, & directors? You get Extreme Heist!
The story sucked, action scenes where the best, some of the movie sort of felt like amateur camera work at it's best. The stunt work keeps you glued, the bad lines make you laugh, and it's worth a watch. I love to watch really bad movies, that's why I bought this little gem. Still this movie is not as bad as Blast or Strike Force.
I'm still trying to figure out Why! Oh Why! Did Jason Narvy black out what looks like a skull and cross bones tattoo? I mean really? I wasn't buying it as a wrapped up gun shot wound. I mean it's good to see Narvy out of the PR world but he's still playing the sidekick. This time with brains and without the annoying laugh. I couldn't take him to serious when he's still dressing like Skull. Another thing the blonde hair isn't working.
Johnny Yong Bosch fight scene's were really the best thing out of the whole movie. The action/fight scene's were he's moving in and out of a car fighting was awesome. He does a lot of his own stunts, still every time I seen him I still think back and go "The black ranger is kicking a**".
Paul Schrier pops up as Mom, yeah he owns/a cook at diner named Mom's. Few lines but he's there then he's gone.
I still think the names of the main characters were a laugh Billy Ray Lee (Bosch) & Guile Lydon (Narvy). Where's the thought behind them? Billy Ray, come on.
There was a lot of fighting in this movie, wish the story was stronger, better written. Quick Summary basically the movie real easy to follow 2 bad guys still something that's not theirs. Other bad guys want it back and fight for it. There's also the FBI watching it and following along the way. Gee How's it going to end?
C.H.U.D. II - Bud the Chud (1989)
Rip on me, but I still love this movie!
The first time I seen this movie I was a kid that snuck out of bed while the parents where sleeping. That's how I was introduced to a lot of horror movies watching Up All Night. I remember it but never the name. It took many years to find out the name of the movie. The ending is what I remember mostly. I found it on Ebay on a 8 horror movie DVD set and bought it. This movie as soon as I started watching it, everything came back.
CHUD 2: Bud the chud is a sequel of CHUD 1, it is a corny, campy, funny, & considered a horror movie. For many who don't know the name Bud Oliver he is the main chud in CHUD 2. I don't know if he was a private that signed up for a army experiment or what. If he was just a dead guy they brought back, or whatever. From what I have read the chud's in the 1st movie they were mutants living in the sewer. In this version the chud's are more zombie like or even ghouls. I mean a lot of people have really hated this movie, & I'm sorry I like it. This movie is not like the first one, and should be seen as not a sequel at all.
The thing that works for this movie is Bud's facial expression's. Bud's facial expressions are what tells you happy, sad, relaxed, confused, and even mad. Bud speaks very little, but has good comic timing. I don't know if it is for every bite Bud gets a little smarter or more talkative. Plus he has these wicked looking teeth. They look like Christopher Walkens teeth in Sleepy Hollow. I still liked the ending of the movie, sort of feel kind of bad for the guy at the end. Plus it's the only movie I have ever seen where the guy offer's up his heart to a girl.
There's a scene in the movie that still cracks me up and it is where Bud is watching a woman doing exercises. Kind of following along with her, then she goes out to feed her cat. He's standing in front of her, as she looks up she goes "What big feet you have, then big thumbs, & starts talking to him". I mean it's funny cause he's standing there listening to her go off asking questions. Gesturing/thinking about it then he smile's, and another chud is made.
This movie lives up to the 80's series of horror comedy's out there. It's well worth a watch, maybe a laugh or 2. It has the same song repeating through out the movie, kind of annoying. The movie has little bits of humor throughout the movie. True, to the 80's is the fashion, now of days we worry about all that hairspray. I think they even make a little reference to Frankenstein w/Bud wearing a black coat with short sleeves. The writing's not the best, then again maybe that is what makes it fun to watch. The poodle is cute even takes out a few people, and drags a post man down the road. There's of course a Halloween Dance that all the chuds decide to crash. Bud does has the final word in the movie with "Good-Bye!"
Anyway still love this movie, laugh at some of the lines, goofs, but that's what makes it one of my favorites to watch.
Philadelphia Experiment II (1993)
Marshal Lucky was the best part of the movie!
Let's start off the original with Micheal Pare was great. I mean there was a better story, better effects, and acting.
This movie starts off about 10 years after the other one left off. David Herdeg now has a son now and is a single dad. I can't remember if his wife passed or left him. Anyway there's a scientist, Dr. William Mailer played by Gerrit Graham. Who guess again is messing with a project similar to the Philadelphia Experiment. Every time he messes with the timeline David is effective with nose bleeds, and time bends a little. Well the evil doctor succeeds and sends a plane back to the past. The plane goes back to when his (Mailer's) German dad is working on the a similar project. Well when the plane goes back so does David into a alternate present. Germany is running the states, there is a uprising group that fight's the Germans.
Can't tell you how it ends cause that would ruin it.
On a funnier note Graham plays 3 parts which is pretty much the best acting/parts of the movie. He plays Dr. William Mailer (present/alt-present) and his dad Friedrich Mahler. There is one part where he's dressed up like a cowboy reminds me so much of Marshal Lucky from Used Cars. I was waiting so many time's to hear "That's to d*mn high" and something blow up.
Brad Johnson's acting is really, really bad in this film. That's why I'm stating the best parts are anything with Graham in it, or the flashbacks to the original movie.
One thing I don't get/understand is there is German spoken but no subtitle's. I still don't know what was said in the ending of the movie.
The Hunting Party (1971)
Great to watch, keeps you going!
The Hunting Party is a good western, but there are a few scene's of nudity that I could really care less for. I'm by far a horror movie fan, and this movie has a lot of gory bloody shoot out scene's in it. The movie is about a group of outlaw's that kidnap a women who they think is a school teacher, so their leader can learn how to read. This movie has you going the good guy is the bad guy, the bad guy is the good guy, and the women is torn between the two.
Gene Hackman (Brandt Ruger) play's a really good a**hole in this movie, he plays the bad guy well. Oliver Reed (Frank Calder) play's the leader of the gang who should be a villain, but turn out to be the nice guy. Reed pulls off the American accent pretty d*mn good. You wouldn't know he was British from watching this movie. Mitch Ryan (Doc Harrison) awesome as Doc, only knew him from Dharma and Greg, pretty good performance. Candice Bergen (Melissa Ruger) I didn't recognize at first, since all I remember her from was Murphy Brown, and Miss Congeniality.
Brandt Ruger is a rich cattle rancher that if he owns something it's his and no one else, and no one steals from him either. When Frank Calder steals his wife Ruger and his men start hunting down the gang. Using high tech guns that can kill a man from 800 feet away. Ruger's men start taking down Calder's men one by one, it's very bloody and messy. Melissa Ruger and Frank fall for each other, which anger's Brandt even more. When the movie ends, your cheering and going d*mn I didn't see that one coming. It's a good movie, One western that I actually like, and that surprised me a lot.
The Trap (1966)
Great movie, good romance, & they don't make them like this anymore!
The Trap is a really, really, good movie. It has a great musical score to it, the movie is filmed out in the Canadian wildness, and on a lot in London. Like most movies from the 1960's it is very colorful, and beautiful to watch. It's like watching the old Disney movies like Charlie the Lonesome Cougar.
The Trap is about a women named Eve (Rita Tushingham) who as a kid watched her family get killed by Indian's. From the traumatic event she don't talk at all, and has been since mute. She's took in by a store keeper and his wife, and their daughter. They raise Eve up to being somewhat their own maid, and go to person. The store keeper also has the trapper's money he has been holding onto for 2 years. Him and his wife are wanting to go back to San Francisco, & were told the trapper was dead.
The trapper shows up when it's marrying time the local ferry brings in wife's that the men pay for. Close to a thousand bucks a piece to get them out of jail, and brought up to the town. La Bete show's up bringing in fur's to trade for money and to get money the store owner been keeping for him. As well as wanting a wife, even after all the women are sold off. After wards just buying a new gun, rum, food, and candies.
The French Canadian trapper Jean (pronounced John) La Bete (Oliver Reed). When La Bete goes to the store owner's house to get his money he's surprised at some of the stuff the keeper has in his house. After he get's his money, which the store keeper's wife is not to happy. She tells Eve to get herself all dressed up, and takes her down to the edge of town. She meets up with La Bete and tell's him Eve's story, saying she is young, strong and would make a good wife. The keeper's wife gets paid for Eve, and now Eve's told she has to go with La Bete. Eve's not happy, fights with La Bete, and get's told to stay in the canoe.
Eve's taught by La Bete how to hunt, trap, fish, and even cut wood. La Bete is a jerk, messy, throws food on the ground, and has no manners. Eve and La Bete have their clashes the first year they are together. La Bete get's hurt Eve nurse's him back to health, and in the end they well.....you have to watch this movie to find out the ending.
La danse du scorpion (1989)
A thriller about love, death, and all that jazz!
La danse du scorpion or Frame Up Blue's is a made for TV movie. It stars Kim Coates (Sons of Anarchy, Resident Evil: Afterlife, & Skin Walkers) as Finch Palmer. This is a very very rare and hard to find movie on VHS, since it is not on DVD. Finch Palmer, (Coates) is a jazz saxophonist who's having a hard time trying to make it big again. A crime lord offers him a job to catch his cheating wife in the act. The only problem is Finch falls for the woman (Roberta Bizeau). As well as having troubles with his ex-girlfriend/manager, being set up for a murder, & trying to figure out who done it. Unfortunately like most made for TV movies this movie is drawn out, and kind of boring. The one thing that was nice was seeing Coates playing a good guy for once. It's not a really bad movie but a OK movie. It's was made back in 1989, and is 91 minutes long. It is also all in English, not French, thought I would clear that up.
This movie will leave you with a lot of questions.
This movie is a SyFy original so it takes from other really good horror movies, & kind of screws them up. This movie is a take on Jeepers Creepers 2, Children of the Corn, & any other movie that has a creepy cornfield. It starts out great a group of teens in a SUV going to wherever most horror movies go. Down a lonely old road surrounded by miles cornfields. Something happens to hit and break the windshield, and the truck is in the ditch. Now what is 5 teens with no cell reception to do? Why lets stand there and argue? Why don't they just get out and walk like most of us would do? Next thing you know there is one teen having flash backs to let you somewhat in on the back story. As well as how the scare crow came to be. Never to let you know if he is somewhat related to this family or not. It never explains why there is a cornfield in someone's front yard. Why there are ghosts from the past? What really happened in the past to make this happen? Any details about the family or what happened to them? Why give this family the last name of Comstock, like cornstalk? You will feel let down by the ending, cause there was more to go/explain. It is however left open for a sequel though.
The Outer Limits: Gettysburg (2000)
The Outer Limits: Gettysburg
Andy and Vince are at Gettysburg to do a reenactment of the famous war. One is dressed as a Union soldier and the other is dressed as a Conferdate soldier. When they are asked to have there picture taken by a weird photographer. They then get transported to the Battle of Gettysburg a few days before the battle. As they stand there few soldiers and a Col. (Meat Loaf Aday) ride up on them dressed in Confederate uniforms. Arresting the men and saying that one is a prisoner and the other can join his army. As the show goes on and they come to find out they are in the past. But I can't tell you the rest other then it is a great episode.
