Veronica Mars (2004)
Most realistic crime solving show!!!
Veronica Mars accurately portrays PI work, stake outs, following, tracing credit card spending, phones etc. The constant situations where she is in trouble or about to break a huge case that can be a little unrealistic but thats TV for you. Its more realistic than the drama filled teen shows of today, the people at my High School definitely act more like those in VM. As for her connections with the sheriff, lets see the daughter of the former sheriff turned PI who has collaborated with the police on multiple occasions often involving Veronica's investigating thats not too ridiculous (the situation is improbable but if that were the case that relationship would probably be accurate) VM is constantly breaking down and is visibly upset and haunted by the death of Lily Kane. As for plot holes, like many have said this show is smart, many plot-holes one might find upon further viewings (or watching the show more carefully the first time) are easily explained this gives the DVDs plenty of watch-ability cause you can find new references that you missed the first time, or clear up questions you may have. I don't see how so many can rip on this show calling the acting bad or forced the only forced acting i ever saw was when the Dean's step son was walked in upon while Keith Mars was looking around the house and he said "what do you want" like the stereotypically portray Goths, all other acting was brilliant, now i can understand having trouble following the story, or being lost because of the season-long mystery, but i don't see how so many people could have not only a problem but be so critical with this show.
And as for other crime solving shows:
Anybody who has ever taken a course on Forensic anything (forensic being the application of something to the law i.e. forensic science application of science to the law) knows that all CSI shows are highly in-accurate, not just in the way they use the "databases" but in the fact that a group of 4 field-workers are not only authorized cops but forensic technicians as well. all the CSIs, criminal intent and without a traces generally stray from the truth after they leave the crime scene. there are separate groups of technicians that do the majority of the evidence collection, photographing of the scene, blood analysis, fingerprints and yet a group of around 7 people are doing all of these (often taking half the time than the actual process would take) now this is possible to have several people who are trained to do multiple tasks, but the odds of them also being law enforcers who can actually arrest someone are slim to none, and when you consider how young the majority of them are makes it even more ridiculous, fingerprint matching is done matching characteristics then comparing the fingerprints that have the same # (fingerprints are characterized by things such as arches loops, whorls etc. if they appear on a finger then a number is given based upon these and so-on I've forgotten exactly how this works) this is done by people the only thing the PC does is find prints that have the same # the rest is done by people and this can and often takes days, and often the prints they are able to lift on those shows aren't even significant enough to legally use, as in real life but unlike real life they use them.
