The Tribe (1999)
I have to say I always had a soft spot for these "kidsshows". Sometimes it's so bad it's good, but they are fun and relaxing to watch anyway. I watching through season 2 now and are amazed over how a show for kids can involve so much sex, teen-pregnancies violence and death. It's like a soap for grown people.
The acting are in some cases not so impressive. In other cases some of these kids are brilliant. Caleb Ross and Beth Allen comes to mind. I do hope those two continue working with acting because it would be a waste otherwise. Caleb Ross drinking scenes in season 2 are my favorite part of all the plot lines.
Give this a shot. It really is captivating, after you watched it for a while.
One of the best!
This is a hard show to watch. It's not something to sit back and relax to. It kept me on the edge of my seat for several seasons. People get screwed over, raped, tortured and die like flies. There are male organs everywhere, there is excrement, puke and blood. Oz is a brave show. It brings up issues like racism, homosexuality, prisoners reality and most of all; -capital punishment. It is, in my opinion also successful in doing so, unlike for example, the single-tracked "Medium".
It bored me sometimes. It had some weird story lines and they spent to much time on characters that just didn't interest me. Strangely enough, I found season 1 to be quite boring. If I had watched it while it aired I think I wouldn't have continued to watch it. I love seasons 2 - 4. Season 5 and 6 are watchable, (although I think it shouldn't be allowed to utter the words "Cyril" and "Death Row" in the same sentence)
There are so many marvelous characters to root for. The old guys Bob and Busmalis, who I absolutely fell in love with from day one. Said, Adebesi, Pancamo and Schillinger, four very strong and charismatic leaders in their own way. Augustus Hill, who's monologues tied the episodes together so efficient. The staff with people like Sister Pete and Ray Mukada-also brilliant. Also minor characters that was only in for a couple of episodes or a few seasons, but left a good impression as well.
My favorites are the O'Reily brothers. Their relationship was the most gut-wrenching and warmest I seen on television. If there is anything I will always remember about this show it's them. There will never be another "pairing" or what to call it, that will make me ache so much. Thats why, when the ends come for them as well, it almost hurt to much. I wish it would never have happened. I wish I had never watched it.
But good one Fontana. I do recommend it.
The Abyss (1989)
Great job everyone
One of Camerons best three pictures. (the others are Terminator and Aliens) With full perfection, Cameron takes time to tell his story and let us know his characters, wonderfully played by an outstanding cast. Only the ending sends this movie down in the abyss. Ed Harris, Mary Elizabeth Masterantonio and everyone else is powerful and convincing in their performances. But it´s Michael Biehn as the crazyeyed lutenant Coffey that steals every scene he is in and outshines the rest of the cast. He should of won that Oscar he was considered for.
Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
Good special effects
Many people thinks this movie is better than the first. I do not agree. The first had a great story, great acting and REAL exitment. Arnold was a ROBOT in that one, not an actor who tries to do a likeable version of a robot. It was also more thrilling becourse Sarah didn´t have a robot who never needed sleep to watch over her. She only had a vulnerable young boy from the future who she fell in love with and lost. I don´t say the second was bad. But the most touching scenes was those who reminded me of the first movie. Like when John wonders about his dad and they show Sarah photos from the policestation 1984. Its also is hard to see "father unknown" when the computer scrolls down information about John. The first one left the future hanging in the air. The other one was good, but should of been more of a "human" story like the first one was.
T1 10/10 T2 8/10
Sorry for bad english.
The Art of War (2000)
This was a OK film. Not good, but not the worst film Ivé seen. Mainly because of talented actors like Michael Biehn and Donald Sutherland. Both of them steals every scene they are in. Wesley Snipes is awful and so is the chinese girl involved in this mess.Sorry for bad english.
