Evil Dead (2013)
A missed opportunity
As a fan of the original Evil Dead trilogy I got really excited when I saw the trailer for this film. The weekend it came out there was a huge buzz that got me even more excited. My question is did they see the same movie? The people that gave this perfect reviews must not have been fans of the original. This film makes no sense to me, the plot is loose and thin and if you think too hard about it you can find numerous holes and questions. My main complaint is the deadites. In the original when the Evil came and turned people it turned them into ruthless crazy people that taunted and played with the people's minds. In this film when someone turns (with the exception of Mia) they just turn into mindless zombies that can use weapons. They make rules with the book but none of them seem to matter in the long run. The (evil one) at the end is just another mindless deadite that is too easily killed. The visuals and gore in this film are great (the main reason I scored it as high as I did). All in all it just doesn't feel like an Evil Dead movie even though many of the pieces are in place.
What the f@#$ did I just watch!?!?!
I hadn't heard of this movie until today. I was browsing the video store and saw Elle Fanning on the box and my wife and I agreed it looked interesting. We just finished and were both both bored out of our minds the entire time. The only part thats even remotely entertaining is a quick moment where Val Kilmer is doing an impression of a gay black basketball player from the 60s(?)! The movie tries to be visually stimulating but just comes off looking cheap (seriously has the moon ever been so bright?). No one in this movie acts anywhere close to a real person. The plot is confusing as hell! Its like Hollywood doesn't even try anymore. This boring hack job makes House Party 5 look like House Party 2!!!
The most pointless movie ever
This movie is made by some crazy clueless people. This is the dumbest movie ever and it isn't worthy of the House Party name. I think my eyeballs might break if I have to roll them again. If this is portraying todays youth im tired of living on Earth. Why why why why why why why why why why? How is this funny to anyone? Uninspired crap. Please stop making crappy movies based on good movies. House Party isn't even that great but this is a shame on its name. This movie is on an endless loop in Hell. Poop. Poop Poop Poop. This really is my review for this terrible movie, it doesn't even attempt to be smart or entertaining so neither am I. The actors don't even seem into it. Please don't make another one. This movie is so stupid. FIN
The Woman in Black (2012)
Harry Potter and The Woman In Black
I was bored to death by this movie. If you have seen The Ring and The Haunting you have no reason to watch this movie because it has basically the same plot twists. Oh, and its another one of those movies where most of the dialog is practically whispered so you turn your volume up but then anytime a scare happens it is ridiculously loud just to scare you more. This is cheap and it seems more and more movies are competing to have the loudest jump scares. Just a regular old music sting has worked just fine for years, but these days it has to have a giant BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMZZZZZZ to be really effective. I have no idea why Daniel Potter chose to do this movie other than a paycheck and getting to hang out on the many cool sets. I must say though that it was beautifully shot. 6!
