Schmigadoon! (2021–2023)

Alan Cumming is a JOY to watch!
18 October 2023
This show is an absolute delight from start to finish. I wouldn't say I'm a big musicals person, I'm fussy and there's a lot that I don't like, but this really hit the sweet spot for me. Ridiculous, over the top, camp as they come, silly, joyous. I think all of the casting is excellent - it's always a joy to see Kristin Chenoweth singing again - and you get the feeling that everyone is really enjoying themselves while making it. Titus Burgess is a delightful addition to the ensemble for the second series, he was born for this role and I can't imagine it going to anyone else. Whether you like musicals or not, there will be something in this show for you. It reminds me of Book of Mormon with its humour, and if you enjoyed that I think you'll definitely love this.

Now I'm just DYING waiting for another series, I can't wait to see what they do next!!

one of the best sketch shows of all time
13 October 2023
Ridiculous, silly, chaotic, absolute comedy genius. I love it just as much at 24 as I did as a child. So many familiar faces (Marcus Brigstock, Marek Larwood, Nick Mohammed to name a few) that I feel privileged to have grown up watching, but the writing is what sets it apart. I truly believe this is one of the greatest sketch shows of all time containing some of the greatest sketches ever written for TV that are just as funny today as they were back then. I wish it was available online somewhere so I could watch it all but until then I've just got a few episodes that are on youtube. If you've never seen it, and you have an opportunity to watch this show, you MUST.

absolutely LOVED this!!!
11 March 2023
I know TV execs don't seem to care about what's actually popular these days, but please, for the love of god, give us more of this absolute GEM!!

The episode with Joseph Gordon Levitt was absolutely incredible, honestly all of it was incredible!! There are times where you think the plots are going to be predictable but every time it gets turned on its head and becomes something entirely different. The twists, the character developments in each episode, the relationships, all of it is just so interesting and leaves you desperate for MORE!! The episode in the theatre (I think possibly episode 3 but can't remember) was probably my favourite, I love the dynamic between the actors in the play and all of the backstory. No other show has ever had me go from loving to hating a character so deeply in 20 minutes, the writing is really impressive and Natasha is absolutely phenomenal, and there are some wonderful cameos too. A must watch!!!

I see some people complaining that the episodes follow a similar structure - well, that, quite frankly, is the point!! The show has a format in some ways but it still manages to make each episode unique and interesting. There's a certain level of suspension of disbelief and you need to be prepared for a slight amount of cheese, but those elements just make the show even more loveable for me. To anyone who didn't enjoy/understand it, that doesn't mean the show is bad, it's just not for you! Those of us who get it adored it. I will be waiting on tenterhooks for series 2, don't let me down Peacock!!!

The Big Trip (2019)
5/10
you must watch this.

Honestly one of the worst films I've ever seen in my life, but it is absolutely incredible and essential viewing, just not with kids because it makes no sense at all. Impossible to follow, audio terribly mixed with lots of sounds at completely the wrong levels so you couldn't hear characters speaking half the time, very low quality animation, unintelligible plot, tons of unlikeable, unnecessary characters, weird voice acting, this movie has it all. My favourite thing about this film is that whenever there's any kind of conflict in the story, they just... move on from it and reappear somewhere else rather than dealing with it. Truly amazing stuff, unmissable.

feels like something is missing
11 August 2021
None of the characters are remotely believable or likable, the script is very dry and empty, the sets feel fake and completely lifeless, the whole thing is just lacking. Easily one of the most boring TV shows I've seen. The humour is very weak, most of the jokes are stale, have been done before or simply aren't funny. I just don't think this show is really doing anything we haven't seen before. The characters are all very flat, the plots are dull and unexciting, the relationships are entirely predictable, the entire thing just feels devoid of any character. It feels like the full length version of the made up TV show they'd talk about in something like Episodes; lifeless, meaningless and entirely shallow. I wouldn't bother.
