Please see the Director's Cut!
I was blown away by this film the first time I saw it, but when I saw the director's cut (and on the big screen, baby!) the original theatrical release was put to shame. So much more about the intricacies of the relationships between the characters (especially Salieri and Constanze) is revealed, which really completes the climax. I don't want to give anything away--just see this movie!
Ghost World (2001)
What's after the credits makes everything worthwhile
This is an extremely well played take on the outsider in different stages of life. There's such a delicate balance of the outcast teen who desperately wants to stay on the outside, the nerdy adult who wishes he could relate to the inside. And Scarlett Johansson nimbly portrays the outsider teen who is not willing to work to stay on the outside.
One of the things that I loved is that nothing happens. Many IMDB users complain about this, but I revel in it. Why do we feel that if it doesn't have a car chase or end in vengeance, it isn't a good film? Ghost World leaves you with emotion rather than adrenaline.
Roger & Me (1989)
You'd think he would want the plant closed
If corporations are evil, wouldn't the fact that GM couldn't afford to keep paying 30,000 people to make cars that wouldn't sell please the likes of Michael Moore? And then they protest against organizations like the WTO who are trying to make it impossible to have plants that pay 60 cents per hour. Not only does Michael Moore fail to supply any viable alternatives, he argues against the best ones suggested.
