Murder in the First: Pilot (2014)
I always loved Hill Street Blues and knowing Bochco in commands of this one, I was curious and after seeing it, not disappointed.
No murder case solved (and then some) after 40 minutes, taking time developing the characters, putting in place the delicate interactions...
Many interesting second-line roles there waiting to hatch.
Hope to see many many more episodes of this one. It could easily become with Justified and Longmire one of my favorites (True Detective is very good but it contains a little too much "implied fantasy" for a crime TV show).
Just loved it.

Sparrows Dance (2012)
Sometimes it takes two to climb a wall
Well, I saw this one and Oblivion the same night. I plunged into Sparrows dance at the first second and emerged at the last one and stopped looking to Oblivion after 45 minutes to continue some readings not being in the mood of spoiling the sweetness and the happiness of the first movie... And I'm a sci-fi fan...
Well written, very well played, intelligent. 150 K bucks of budget and the other 120 Millions bucks and ten times less intelligence :P
And discovery of Hanshan (googled it :p), Fats Navarro and Baby Dayliner (thanks to Shazam).
See it with your loved one, you won't be disappointed ;)
Alien Opponent (2010)
The Godfather Of B-Movies
Well just discovered this little gem.
How can we describe this film. There is no scenario. It could be sponsored by Tarantino after two or three (definitively 3) joints and perhaps even without any ;) The little dialog is excellent. The actors really enjoyed themselves. I definitively enjoyed myself seeing the actors enjoying themselves in this very enjoyable film. The special effects are above good for the budget.
So shut your brain off for 80 minutes, call out your friends, and give yourself a great moment of hilarious gore :)
If you're a real "cinephile" and you like to explore every genre, well this little one can be on of the godfathers of the B-movie kind. Going certainly to look after Doolan and Theys (screenwriter and director)of Alien opponent. They really know what they are doing !
Sherlock is damn good
I always was a fierce reader of Conan Doyle works and the modern transposition of it is just perfect. Brilliantly written, remarkably directed and magisterially acted. Sir Arthur would have been happy.
The use of modern technology is just enough.
There is the magnifying glass.
I really really miss the pipe (I began smoking pipe partly because of Holmes);)
Well all is not perfect. A bit of dirty Harry in this Sherlock character. A bit too fiery too (but the actor is much younger than the traditional Holmes, well maybe a young Holmes then) and a brilliant conversation ended with a gun is not a good conclusion for anything.
Except some of these little points, the rest was very very enjoyable.
Valhalla Rising (2009)
I don't even know how I discovered this movie. But it will not leave me for a long long time.
Many levels,so many levels, a deep breath into oneself.
Much existential philosophy here.
It speaks of the meaning of life. How do we live ? Why do we live ? How will we die ? The Christianity is just there in the background to make one see the emptiness of a life searching for an afterlife.
The other men live and die. Many in vain. Searching for their god, searching for a meaning, and always, except a few, dying by their fear.
One-eye, the hero (I don't know if you can REALLY call him that), is just a man, living for the instant, for this world. There is no future in his eye, just the brutal present. All along his journey, there is a kind of smile on his lips, as if he knew what the future will be made of. Well, events are never unexpected for him, because each of them happen in the present and he deals...
Valhalla : where warriors who die in battle go... Odin was also one- eyed.
The penultimate chapter is called : Hell. Hell is the representation of the warriors of Christianity for a place on earth. They are in hell, because they think they are. They react as they were there. For One-eye, just another place, another home... the last survivors follow him out of it... All the symbolism... the prophet to lead us out of the religion's hells is just a man, a semi-blind one, who can't see the distances very well, but see the present, clear enough to lead the path.
Don't go watch this movie if you are seeking action.
If Nietzsche is your friend, One-eye is another Zarathustra.
10 out of 10 without hesitation.
Rocky Balboa (2006)
Just a great movie
I saw all the Rocky series many and many times.
The first was and will always be my favorite. But I have tears in my eyes at the end of this one, not just because the movie was a great entertainment but I knew that I had to say farewell to my favorite underdog character.
So Farewell Rocky, you have carved your place in the heart of all your fans and somewhere I am sure that your Adrian is watching on you.
Well folks, just one last word, forget all the critics, go and see this movie, worth every penny you'll spent. Go with your friends, your family and enjoy a pure moment of nostalgia ;)
