Pride and Prejudice (1995)
This is just perfect!
I have no idea how many times I've seen this, and I don't get tired of it. It's just fantastic.
The actors have managed to capture the characters down to their fingertips, and it's just a wonderful piece of work. Everything about this mini is superb.
Jennifer Ehle is the perfect Lizzie in every way. And for Colin Firth...well...for his performance I'm almost lost for words. He nails Mr.Darcy. No one have ever played Darcy has well as Firth did, and no one will. He has a look that is amazing, and his eyes...well his eyes can melt ice and freeze ice almost at the same time.
So if anyone wants to experience Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, I recommend this mini-series and it does not hurt your impression if you read the book, either before or after watching this. You will not be disappointed.
Pride & Prejudice (2005)
I hated it at first, but I like it now.
When I first saw the movie last year, I've just seen the mini-series by BBC for a third time in a row, and I simply love the mini. So when I sat down to watch the movie, I compared it with the mini and everything about the movie was wrong. The Bennet's house was dirty, Elizabeth was too silly for my taste and the dialogue between Elizabeth and Mr.Darcy was too fast. Like they were in a hurry. And a lot of things was wrong in my mind. I just hated it. After a little while, getting the mini-series out of my mind, I saw it again. I didn't like it then either. But then I read the book a couple of times and laid down the whole Pride&Prejudice-story and forgot more or less about the it. But for a while ago I picked it up again, I watched the mini-series and read the book. And last night I saw the movie for the third time. And my feelings was quite the opposite. I laugh, I cried and I was very pleased by the whole movie. But still there are things in the movie that irritates me, but I no longer hate it, and that's a good thing because I just love the story. But I must say that for me, Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth, who played in BBC's miniserie, is the perfect Elizabeth Bennet and Mr.Darcy.
