Falling Skies (2011– )
1/10
Painful to watch, unreal and shallow.
15 December 2011
I somehow managed to watch two and a half episodes of this nonsense as I usually like this type of thing and thought it must improve eventually. I'm so shocked as to how bad this programme is, I'm not sure where to start.

As far as I can make out the entire human race has been wiped out by vicious, deadly, formidable aliens, who are capable of killing millions of people at the drop of a hat. However some people have managed to survive by walking down the road and living in a school. Now and then an ex-teacher and a few other bad actors go out for a walk, shoot an alien, come back and have cheesy conversations.

The characters are so shallow and boring that I find myself hoping that they get wiped out by the aliens. The hero Dad searching for his son, The all-action blond with the gun, the scientist/ medical guy who looks more like a car salesman, the cool teenagers, irritating little kid with the corny lines, oh yes, and the token actor from each ethic group.

Didn't any fat people survive? or bald? or disabled? Why don't the background characters act like people I know? They don't crack jokes, they don't argue, they don't read books, they don't make any noise. I'm assuming most of them have lost loved ones so why aren't they crying, acting irrationally, going mental. I would either be going nuts trying to wipe out aliens, or rocking back and forth in a corner trying to hang on to my sanity.

The plot is ludicrous, the script must have been written by a seven year old, and there is more tension and menace in an episode of Scooby Doo.

There's an old saying: 'as boring as watching paint dry'. I never really knew what it meant until now.
