Malignant (2021)
Marketing may have ruined this one
Just dumb fun, and that's the mentality you should have when go to see this movie, or you will be disappointed. Sadly, it was marketed as horror, so people feel like this should be scary and that's why so many have disliked it, but when you watch it you understand that being scary is definitely not the premise of the movie.
TL;DR: Great for laughs, but if you're looking for a good story or tense horror scenes, you'll find it garbage.
Fear Street: 1978 (2021)
Nostalgia alone doesn't make a good movie
The first one was bad. Had very little story to a full on teen drama that didn't made any sense. This second title does barely any better: still we get more teenage drama, relationships that don't matter at the end of the story, no consequences, characters devolve instead of actually learning something with the situation they're put through.
Such a waste of potential of being an actual good curse story, now only with a chapter left to clean all this mess (or bury it deeper, if it goes where it hints it's going).
Come Play (2020)
Above average, but not great
Most characters have a story arch which is a rare thing in recent movies. The plot is simple and very predictable, but it doesn't hurt the overall enjoyment of the flick.
The horror is tense yet offers nothing new to the genre. The monster's design could remind you of some early 2010 creepypastas (you decide if that's good or bad to you).
Overall, it resembles The Babadook (2014), switching the book to everyday tech.
