Naked Fear (2007)
First half isnt bad, and then.....
This film starts out pretty good, new gal in town thinks she's gonna get an acting career but ends up stripping in a sleazy bar, only to end up in the hands of a sadistic psycho who tortures her and dumps her naked in the wilderness so he can hunt her down. The pursuit goes on for a while until our heroine is able to smash a large rock on the psycho's head (from a good height too). ..and then the nonsense begins.
First off, being bashed in the skull and then falling a good height (SPLAT!!), you'd expect most humans to either be dead or showing some major damage to their head/body...but not in this film...the guy doesnt even have a scratch on him.
.. And that ridiculous bit in the hospital where our heroine (now totally deranged herself) chews through her restraints (I kid you not) escapes without notice despite being in casts, bandages and hospital gown) and now exacts revenge on predatory johns (a la Aileen Wuornos) was laughably bad.
...oh well, if you like watching shows like Naked And Afraid, you will get a kick out of the lead actress being totally nude for a third of the film (my favourite moment was seeing the born again christian kid keep trying to sneak a peak at her bare bum)
Better Call Saul: Nippy (2022)
good episode but..
I can't get over that very poor attempt to make a hot summery day look like the dead of winter. Full leaves on all the trees, birds chirping, etc and they tried to bluff their way through it with B+W(infrared?) shooting and some fake snow piles. Im sure all the actors were sweltering under all that heavy winter gear.
The Baby (2022)
what the hell happened???
Man, this started off as a morbidly fun (and creepy) story with a lot of unexplained eeriness, but soon after episode 4 it turned into a boring story about sibling rivalry and and bad parenting in a female cult farm. They finally leave that stupid farm at the end of episode 6, but I doubt they'll be able to recover from the damage that plot diversion did.
Oh well, better luck next time.

So far, so good!!
I'm really enjoying this series. It has enough unsettling creepiness to keep you interested. Plenty of links to H. P. Lovecraft and Aleister Crowley. The allusions to past film classics (Dont Look Now, Rosemary's Baby, The Seventh Victim) are there but not "in your face". The introduction of Cassandra (an obvious nod to Marjorie Cameron) is very well done.
All in all, a riveting series that keeps you wanting to see what's next.
Yellowjackets (2021)
total lack of credibility
No one has ever bothered to light a signal fire? An airplane black box that can be destroyed by banging it twice against a rock?...a grizzly bear (in Ontario!?!?) that is killed with one stab of a knife? Magic mushrooms that turn everyone into homicidal maniacs? A younger brother that the writers keep forgetting is part of the cast?
Garfunkel and Oates: Trying to Be Special (2016)
say that again???
Their act seems to centre around singing lyrics so fast that unless you've heard the song before (multiple times?) you sit there in the audience thinking "I have no idea what they're saying".
