I liked it, it's a remake, it's not meant to be frame for frame identical, that'd be pointless. If the original film had never been made then this would have been rated much higher. Don't compare it to the original think of it as it's own film.
There are a few moments where you think Why did they do that, or that could have been better, but unfortunately, the world has got too sensitive and film makers have to bow down to the snowflakes for fear of the film being censored or cancelled.
At the end of the day, this is a fun film about a little wooden boy that has to find his way in the world with the help of his conscience.
